Yay! I bought it from a lady who used to deer hunt with it "back in the day" and was looking to get rid of it. It's in very good shape for an '86, and it came with a Bushnell scope, sling, and hard case. I paid $120.

Nice rifle. But ditch that tacky sling and the bulky scope: they just detract from the handling qualities. Get yourself a peep sight.

That's a good deal!

As for robbing little old ladies, she needed $120 and had a gun. You needed a gun and had $120. I see nothing wrong with it.

I have one just like it in 30-30. I canned the cheap Chinese sling and put a good on on it.

Also put a Burris Short Mag scope 2.5-8 X 32mm. They don't make this scope anymore but is sure is a neat little package.

I'd a least get rid of the See-Through rings and get the scope down low where it belongs.

Oh, and move it forward a little so you don't get a "scope eyebrow" when you hunker down behind it.

Hope you kissed her & cuddled for awhile after you got done.
Nah, her boyfriend was there, and he looked like the aging biker type. I didn't want to get whooped. :D

robbing little old ladies is not cool
Well, she wasn't really a little old lady. I'd say she was mid 50's at most. Her husband had passed and she had just moved into an apartment with her boyfriend. She wanted to get rid of the gun since she didn't need it around taking up space.

I met her through the staff bulletin board at work. She's actually a correctional officer like me, although she works at a different facility. I put a "lever action rifle wanted" on the bulletin board (it's on the Departments intranet site) and she contacted me through that. She named the price, and I agreed.

I bought mine back in the mid 80's but I don't remember if it was K-mart or Howard Discounts but it cost $139.99. Not too bad when you consider you can get 25 years of use and sell it for about what it cost.
Yeah I know, 139.00 back then is like 339.00 now so that was a very good deal for a classic rifle.

If you look on that scope where does it say its made? If its from when most of the Bushnell line was Japan made it should do you pretty well. I have a fixed 4x on my 1983 made 336 and it has made me much more proficient with that rifle. I moved to aperture sights early on in my firearm use and haven't gotten very used to the factor irons on the 336. I would at least put a peep type sight on there if not a lower set of mounts and that scope.
