Just bought a new EEA Zastava EZ40

I am very impressed with fit and finish, the gun looks and feels excellent, very solid and very smooth. I am looking forward to shooting it this week sometime, will let you know about accuracy.

Isn't that the crazy SIG-a-like with a "low magazine indicator"? I read about those some time ago and thought the pin in the grip that pings your hand at 3 rounds was pretty neat. I'd certainly pick one up if the price is right (and it most assuredly would be).

i own a couple EAA autos and think some of their guns , like the Witness Match Elite , are the Best Buy for The Buck !!!

This is the updated CZ-999 Scorpion, which is the updated CZ-99. The only difference between this and the Scorpion is the accessory rail. The only difference between the CZ-999 and the CZ-99 is...I'm not sure, except that the factory was destroyed and rebuilt.


Charles Daly/KBI imported them until Remington gave them the screw over their rifles. It has been imported in small numbers in other guises, such as the Israeli Golan (a compact version) and the South African TZ-99, heck even as the CZ-99 direct from Yugoslavia.

Whereas the Springfield XD comes from Croatia, this comes from Serbia and is also the pistol of choice for the Serbian national police and military. Overall, it is bigger than the SIG 226 and fills the hand significantly. They have nice triggers. One might be tempted to compare them with another EAA import (which, coincidentally, occurred only after the previous importer no longer imported it), the Astra A-100. However, the EZ-40 is more Sig than the A-100 was.

Yeah guys I am excited, the only thing i wish EEA would have done is include and extra clip, but since it was cheap (under 400$) I won't complain, I will just call EEA and order an extra mag and a spare spring. Hope to shoot it this week.

Another question for you guys, what would be "easiest" on a gun, in this case a 155 grain or a 180 grain? I was under the impression a lighter load is lighter on the gun and also lighter recoil wise.

6 of one , 1/2 dozen of the other.

In other words --- if the 155 is loaded hotter/faster it will wear the barrel throat , lands/groves , and batter the slide more as it is traveling back faster.

The other hand --- if a 155 and a 180 grain are loaded to the same feet per second -- then the 155 will be "easiest" on the gun.

For playing around , anything will do. For KILLING something , the heavier weight will most times be better.

Well I have been able to shoot the new EZ a few times so far, have between 150 and 170 rounds through it. Not one single problem yet, it shoots great, feels good in the hand, the reciol isn't bad at all, and seems to be accurate (I have definitely been the limiting factor so far )

I am looking forward to gettting another couple hundred rounds through it but so far I am very pleased for a 400 $ gun.

Ok so I know this is an old thread but thought I would give you an update, about 400 rounds through the gun without an issue. As soon as it warms up I will shoot it more but I am also looking at grabbing one in 9mm (EZ 9). Definitely my favorite gun to shoot, very accurate too. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a quality made 40 cal for under 400 bucks, seen them on gun broker for 350 +

I acctually traded my EZ 9 in for something smaller for CC, but before I did that I picked up the EZ 40 as well. I am glad I kept the 40cal because I like the extra power, and I believe a big gun should be in a bigger caliber.
They both were a dream to shoot and were flawless in function. I am just impressed how this pistol handles recoil so good, and is very accurate. I put a weapon light on mine and load it up with 180gr gold dots for a bed side pistol.

l shot the ez9 for American Handgunner and lt performed very well. Its fire controls are a bit simpler than the SIGs. I don't think there is any way the magazines would interchange as the ez has a ambi mag release. Hanan Yadin, a well respected Houston based security operative/consultant gave it good marks having used the Golan when it was imported by a Houston Couple a decade or so ago.
