I like mine. The trigger is good and the grip safety engages easily when I grip the pistol. The only thing I don't care for is the trigger safety; it's useless because of the grip safety.

MaceWindu, is the bright white lettering on your Glock factory standard? I've seen a few like that recently. Looks nice.

#1: Make sure there is no excess oil on your slide, wipe with a cloth and make sure the area is dry...

#2: Take a white crayon (YES, crayon..:D ) and go over your slide lettering, back and forth....

#3: Wipe off the excess crayon with baby oil.....

#4: DONE!!

Hey, I'd like to know, too. I didn't notice that plastic "cap" thing on the beavertail until Mike just mentioned it. What the heck it it? I think I see the words "tactical" and "Made in Canada" on it. Looks to me like those edges would rub pretty bad. Also, it looks like it would force a significant repositioning your hand on the grip. That might very well be your grip safety problem.

Edited to add - I found the cap. It's made by Smart Lock Technology, Inc. ( www.smartlock.com ) and they make 'em for several different models. I really don't like the looks of it. Best guess is that it increases the width of at the rear of the slide by at least 0.2", and the goofy looking Mickey Mouse ears add another 0.5", which totally destroys the nice clean lines of the gun. Plus, the added material at the rear of the gun will definitely have an effect on how the grip safety is engaged. Remove it and I bet your grip safety problem goes away.

BradScroll down to see the XD model.

Edited later to add - NOW WAIT JUST A COTTON-PICKIN' MINUTE! The pic at the top of this thread is the exact same pic on the Smart Lock web site for the XD product. Click here to see the manufacturer's installation page. The pic is at the bottom of the page. Why didn't you tell us you'ld added an aftermarket gizmo that is, in all probability, the source of your problem?

The picture at the top of the post is of the grip safety extension and it is indeed from their web site. That silly beavertail thingy is not on my guns, my guns are stock. That tape-on attachment was a possible solution, but I'm very dubious of taping something critical to the reliable operation of my gun. No, I'd never put that mickey-mouse beavertail on my gun just because of how it looks. Sorry about the confusion, I was really looking for an opinion on the little stick-on memory groove, not that other contraption. Since I didn't have a picture with JUST the stick on thingy, I took one from their web site.

Gotcha. I guess I'm still a little stymied about how the grip safety is causing problems. I have about the oddest hands I know - short and stubby but very wide. The grip safety on mine has never been an issue, I just grab the gun and fire.

You still want to part ways with that .40? If so, drop me a PM and let me know how much.

.... and a lot of premature slide lock, besides a trip back to SA that didn’t solve anything....

The XD-40s are known for this problem (premature slide lock). This problem occurs during the feeding of odd numbered rounds from the magazine as odd rounds feed from the left side of the double stack mag and occasionally contact the internal slide lock lever. To solve your problem, you need to file or grind away a small amount of (shorten) the part of the internal slide lock lever that contacts the magazine follower. Just be carefull not to take off too much metal or your slide will not lock back after the last round is fired.

HTH!
