Just curious: anyone else like police dept marked guns?

I have a 1965 ex Baden-Württemberg Polizei 7.65mm Walther PP that was purchased because it is a made in Germany Walther. There are no importer marks [a US military bring back] and being an ex Police weapon was not a factor.

It is a sweet shooter.

I think it adds character.

If I saw two used handguns for sale, revolver or auto, same price, identical but for police markings, I'd buy the police veteran.

You can buy all the plain vanilla ones you want, why not pick one with some background flavor?

JMO.

I've developed a bit of an interest and was just curious as to if anyone else did this.

Absolutely, if money were no object I would definitely collect 'police' labeled guns just for historical kicks (currently I have none). My money so far goes towards personal practicality for economic reasons.

By the way, GREAT pics in this thread!

I have a S&W Mod 64 that's marked Pittsburgh PD. When I first got it I really liked that marking as it kinda added some history to the gun. I knew not only that it was a former police gun, but what department actually had used it.

Now, I've yet to actually acquire another PD marked gun yet (though I've got my eye closely on a few), but I've seen several others show up online.

Specifically, I've seen online:

S&W 3rd gen .40's marked Memphis PD
S&W 3rd gen .40's marked Atlanta PD
S&W Sigmas marked Niagra Falls PD
and there seem to be a number of surplus Glock 22's marked Detroit PD.

Anyone else have an interest is these type of marked duty guns?

Like I said, I'm just curious :)
Nope. I have to admit early post WWII Manuhrin P-38 made for Berlin police with little daisy flower was kinda cute.
