Just curious: what is the most effective handgun round for combat?

I think I would like to use the .045 ACP round, it has worked well for a number of years, it may be big and slow, but these folks now days still can't out run it..

either you meant .45, or you're firing a liliputian weapon

my XDm9 with 19+1 of 124g +p gold sabers.

With my tungsten guide rod and flashlight it kicks about as much as my .22.

None. They all are wimpy compared to what comes out of a rifle chambered in a military cartridge.

There are common choices, such as 9x19mm and 45 ACP, but they're still just handgun cartridges. Choose one, practice frequently, and don't "...go to stupid places with stupid people to do stupid things."

You have no choice in combat in the US military in most cases. You use whatever you were issued. You have to use FMJ ammo by treaty.

And best part if you are in regular military unit it is all low bid just like everything else issued to you from your underwear to your fighter plane.

If you want to make a Navy fighter pilot turn a a greater shade of pale tell
him or her some day that everything from the keel of the carrier to the training the crew for his plane received in all low bid.

Also remember for LE its lowest bid too in a lot of localities.

I was lucky I got to choose the weapons I went into combat with. My first choice 95% was 9mm and second 45ACP.

Someone asked how many handgun rounds fired in combat. Sometimes my only firearm was a handgun. In over 20 years I would say more than a 1000 but less then a million.

Va herder

I'm hoping that the majority of what I fire in combat will be from a 240H out the side of a hook
