Seems like forever since I ordered it (3/21). In time for deer season! I'm going to be putting it on an AccuTrigger Savage 110 initially sold in .270 Win (65,000 psi SAMMI max pressure). Going to have lots of reloading options with OAL and pressure.

Got my gauges, barrel nut wrench, rosin, just need the drilled hardwood blocks.

18" heavy Savage Varmint profile, threaded for suppressor. 11 deg crown. 1 in 8" twist. Matte Stainless.

Keep us updated. I am considering the exact same conversion. I really hate the lead time for barrels. It seems that some are nearly off-the-shelf.

I'll keep you guys posted and will take some photos when I have it together.

What scope base should I go with?

I'm partial to Badger Ordnance and, given the range the cartridge is capable of, I'd get one with a 20 MOA cant. What glass are you planning on?

I have so many choices in glass depending on the range I will be using it at. I have a Carl Zeiss I bought for hunting and a early '90s Japanese made BSA I use for bench work. It is a great scope but what has happened to that brand in the last 20 years almost makes me want to tear the BSA label off!

Looking at either a Badger or Warne (I have a lot of trust in them over the years) 20 MOA. Looks like the Brownells FFL discount goes a little further with the Warne.

What was the cost on the new barrel? I want a 6.5 swede and I have not found any of the current offerings that I like. I am still waiting to actuall see a Tikka or Howa on the shelf in Swede.

Was about $300 when I ordered it. I believe they threw in the bead blasting for free (normally costs). They told me I could send it back later for fluting if I wanted. It's a steal for a hand-lapped barrel.

Had a hard time finding a 20 MOA for long action (round/AccuTrigger). Plenty of choices for a short action. Ended up going with an EGW. One of the reviewers said he always goes with Nightforce when he can and gave this exact base 5 stars.

I already have an excellent benchrest stock, so now I need a good sporter stock for the field.

You shoot deer so far away you need a tapered scope base?
As I said when I was planning the build back in March:
I plan to put a 6.5x55 match grade barrel on a pawned Accutrigger Savage 110 I picked up cheap. The gun will be for bench work 200-300 yd bench work and 300-600 yd medium game. Barrel length will be essentially 26" (including suppressor) which is pretty standard for a Savage.

10-15 MOA might be better for my application but 20 MOA will just be using some of that upper part of the scope adjustment range that never gets used.

I have a Choate Ultimate Varmint Stock for bench work but am still looking for a good sporter stock for carry in hilly rocky terrain (4,600-6,600 ft elivation).
