Just in Time for Christmas - Vista Corp. price increases

And if you believe everything he says, I'd like to sell you some beach front property here in New Mexico......especially the part about caring about American workers and America......after selling out to foreigners. Only answer that won't happen is boycott......we'd have to take up making black powder and bows and arrows for something fun to do....

Here’s the problem: people who don’t know anything about mathematics think prices are going up. People who understand mathematics realize the truth: the value of the dollar relative to purchasing power is going down.
The powder doesn’t cost more, it just takes more dollars to equal the old price.
Buy the product or don’t. Complaining gets you nowhere.

I know inflation has been bad, but looking at Powder Valley's websites shows 75% of Alliant powders out of stock and handgun powders are running $45 per pound with rifle powders at $55 per pound. It wasn't that long a go that a pound of Bullseye was under $20 at powder valley.

I should probably keep my mouth shut but Vihtavouri powders are actually in stock $10 per pound cheaper.

Hey, nobody asked for common sense, we just want to *itch and complain about cost increase. If you keep up that negativity I'm gonna protest.....
That'll show ya.

I wonder how Vernon Speer would think of the fact that his company gives the handloaders and sportsman that started his business the $&!# end of the stick at every opportunity. Happy to charge us $50/lb for powder when business is slow for them, then at the first hint of a shortage we are always absolute last priority for speer and aliant.

Am I to believe that Vista is the only one to be raising prices? Global events, inflation, etc. won't cause everyone else to do the same? Maybe they're just the first to announce.
The other part that old timers will understand is we are talking about war materials. There has been several occasions in the country where big government takes what it wants/needs. My mom has several war dolls that her mom had as a reminder.... no material for a doll is crazy....

I already switched to less foolishly priced powders while they were out of stock everywhere for so long. No need to go back to do charity for Vista.

Like those commercials, "Prices are at an all time high, buy now!"
I made that same switch recently due to the fact of Alliant powders being very scarce where I live . I bought a pound of Blue Dot 2 years ago and have never been able to find it since.

There may be more to it than simple inflation.

In October Vista announced it was selling its "Sporting Products" business to a Czech group called CSG for $1.91 billion. They would continue to sell their other products under a new name.

In late November, CZ-Colt made an offer to buy the entire company, not just the gun parts, based on stock valuation.

Vista stock had dropped after the announced split but has risen since CZ-Colt's offer.

If the sale is based on stock valuation, bumping up revenue a few percent could make a huge difference in the sale price of the company.

Never going to happen with the level of global conflict/combat (war) going on.
Flashback!
In 1995, Hercules, Inc. sold its subsidiary Hercules Aerospace Co. to Alliant Techsystems Inc. The sale included all of what remained of Hercules' gunpowder lines.

We were at war in the Balkans in 1995.

Never say never 😁

Ah, yes. You got me. I just think we’re seeing more large scale conflicts and that global demand for powder has to have increased.

Look at the bright side.... The really BAD letter would read "we're going out of business due to...."

Higher prices are never welcome, but it could have been a lot worse.

Yeah I’m sure they are really in a hard way. Gouging just enough to get by.

It’s entirely possible now is the time to sell since Alliant is seeing government contracts paying off for foreign aid transfers. The books are all black ink thanks to Uncle Sugar’s insatiable lust for foreign entanglements.

Anyone who thinks selling canister powder is how Alliant makes money… well, let’s just say that is an ill fated conceit. 😉
