My grandfather, 67 Years Old. Bought a new gun on saturday :D.

It was the first he'd purchased in YEARS.

The story behind the purchase:
Last summer me and grampa drove down to Anchorage, where my cousin and aunt live. My aunt's husband, a former Police officer, had gotten in a discussion with us about guns and mentioned he had to sell his pistols for finance help and so he had tons of leftover ammunition for them. He gave ME the .45 ACP ammo and gave my grampa all his .40 S&W ammo. My grampa did not have a gun to fire the ammo, but he said we'd get one that would. So he had me shop around for cheap-o models, between Smith & Wesson, Springfield, Glock, and Ruger... He was in a rut, he wanted a budget-friendly gun to shoot 1600 rounds of .40 cal ammunition! He was thinking he'd pay $300-$500 for a pistol, no more than $500 really. So 6 months later, he found one.

The Gun, it has a story too:
A few weeks ago (no more than 2), Frontier Outfitters, an outdoors store who also sold multiple types of firearms was broken into and the burglar gathered every pistol he could and threw them in a large bag as he tried to drag them out, which damaged some of the pistols. So the man was caught, had a standoff with SWAT for a few hours before they breached then cuffed and stuffed his theiving butt. They recovered the pistols and sold them at a special sale, ranging from 20%-40% off on some high-end pistols.

The one he bought, is a SigSauer P229 SAS. Its a sig Custom Shop model with wood grips, tritium (night-sight) front sight, and snagless design (basically, smoooothe all around). It was brand new from the factory, except the little mishap with the burglary.

Store Price: $950
Paid Price: around $700

It had minor damage, you can hardly see some scratches on the stainless part, but the wood grip has some scrapes and on the frame, there are some heavy mars on the eges and on the trigger guard, there is a small scratch that reveals bare metal. Still, at that price, its a steal for a high-end quality handgun. My grampa complained about the price but he likes it alot :D.

We shall see how good it is as soon as he digs the ammo back out :p lol.

I'm happy for him, not only his first ever .40, but his first ever Sig :) .
