Hi everybody! I have been looking and comparing .17HMR's for a week now. I liked the Marlin 917, except the trigger would need replacing and at $80.00 for a Rifle Basix trigger, the gun would be out of my budget. So i ordered a Savage 93R17 fv with Accutrigger. I tried the accutrigger and am very impressed at its pull weight and smoothness. My question is: How does everyone like them? Any opinions welcome. BTW, asking price was $205.00. Also, is a cheap scope adequate for this chambering? Lookin at sumthin like a Simmons 8-Point. Yes i know about quality glass, i own a Ziess Diavari C, a nice Pentax and a Nikon. Just dont think i need $300-$1000 glass for a $200 rifle.

mine will put 5 shots in a dime at 100 yds on a calm day:D , and thats with the old plain creepy trigger. your gonna love that rifle, and the cheap glass will be fine for shooting paper in the daylight, and the recoil aint shakin nothing loose. still wish i would have waited for that accu-trigger though:banghead:

Yeah, I was wondering the same thing, Kris.

I mean, on the one hand, it's a question that's real purpose is spelled out more like "Hey, I just bought this because I liked it and all my research said it was solid, can y'all tell me anything to look out for or make recommendations for accessories, glass, etc.?" but it just comes out differently.

So yeah, being that I don't know squat about anything, back on to the topic..

Just curious about the common opinion, Sheesh. I have never shot this rifle, nor have i even seen it. I kinda ordered it blind.

It is a good rifle. I got a pouch that fits over the buttstock and I keep
two extra magazines loaded inside. I shot a 1/2" group at 100 yards once.
I plan to buy a 17 boresnake and keep it and a small bottle of solvent
in the pouch. All of my 17 rifles seem to foul after 20 shots.
