okay, i finally bought that 58 Remmy i always wanted! i ordered it from Cabelas a few hours ago! here's the link to what i purchased! i have already cast a couple hundred rounds of conical bullets and balls, and i just can't wait to make them fly!

I'm quite exited to get this, i might even be able to get my brother hooked too! i told him i was getting one, he said it looked really cool and he said he would like to shoot with me, so it's perfect! i might just have a family of BP addicts once they all progress further into blackpowder shooting! i don't know what is so addicting about it, but all i know is i don't want to stop. I'm having too much fun with this sport!

one good thing about ordering online is i get to track my package, i love doing that with all my guns that i have ordered! the night before is pretty much sleepless, it's like waiting for Santa to come when you are eight (and you are hoping for a Red Ryder BB gun)

anyway, i will be giving this pistol a formal youtube review, and i will post a link to that when i receive my pistol! this... is going to be awesome.

on a side note, i cut a small steel swinging target for my smaller caliber blackpowder guns. i have been wanting to show you guys how much comes off the steel when you shoot it, haven't got around to that but i will. you would be surprised at how much energy the lead flakes carry!

Sincerely, Levi Hawken Dabney

I have two of the steel frame Remingtons and love em!
I don't know about the brass frame as you don't want to push brass with stout or full loads. I don't think you'd loosen anything up because it's a full frame but just stay on the safe side for the revolvers sake.
I do have a brass frame Colt copy and I swear it's smmther operating than a steel frame gun! The brass is a natural bearing surface and the action is really smooth on it.
Remingtons are really nice shooters! I'm sure you'll enjoy yours!

BPH FAN, those are mighty nice looking guns! the bluing, steel, brass, and wood really blend together to make a great looking revolver!

ZVP, i have held colts, and Remington revolvers. i feel like the Remingtons fit my hand really well! i think i will stick with standard loads, i don't wanna risk screwing up my gun!

Sincerely, Levi

You're going to have a ball with it.

But... Stop casting. You have to find out what size balls your gun likes.
It will be either : 454 or 457.

That's part of the fun

thank you Arcticap! i knew getting onto this that i would get hooked on this sport fast. I love history, i love guns, i hate regulations regarding firearms. THIS is the best hobby i have ever tried! i will be sure to post a shooting video as soon as i get out to the range!

Congratulations on your BP purchase,a little over a year ago I also became hooked on Black Powder and now have 7 handguns and a rifle.
Here is a picture I took at the range a month ago:

I have a brass framed 1858 Remington. I love it. I shoot 20 grains of powder in it and it makes plenty of smoke.

Keep in mind that the brass won't stay very pretty for long if you shoot it. I like the way mine looks, but I don't polish it.

i find that "aged look" to be a good thing. i didn't buy it to stare at all day and fondle with gloves on, i bought it to shoot and enjoy! i also love how brass looks with a nice patina on it. i carry a brass Zippo slim that i don't polish, the color on it is really nice from being left alone to acquire a patina. i would LOVE a pistol with that on the frame, it's just a pretty color i have grown fond of.

Hey Bushyhands, hope you enjoy that 1858, I love mine in 36 cal. (cheaper to shoot than a 44, maybe one day I will get one, but probably not to soon,)

Also wanted to add that you will need someone that is over 18 or 21 (can't remember) to sign for it from cabelas. Just given you a heads up as I believe in another post of yours you said you were 17. good luck and hope she last you a life time.

Levi,

The fine print on the Cabelas order history states....

Delivery Confirmation Adult Signature Required Customer Must provide physical address for delivery of this item.

It can be any adult. Your mother can sign for it, but I think you are too young to sign for it. The driver may not even ask for proof of your age though!

i think it will be fine! I'm friends with the mailman, he knows my folks are fine if i order stuff. in the case it's not his day to deliver the mail i also should not shave until it arrives, i have been letting some stubble grow in for the past few days. with my height cashiers and such usually think I'm an adult, and will sell me matches, lighters, pellets, ammo, knives, fun stuff like that.

you mean Dave? course i do. either way, my mum should be home Tuesday so she could sign the package for me. i can't wait! however, it's like watching paint dry waiting for guns to come in the mail. ah well, just makes getting that nice brown box that much more exiting.

I have the 5.5 and 8 inch steel frame Pietta Remington NMA revolvers and i actually like the balance and pointability of the 8 inch version better.
I don't think you will regret getting the Remington. If anything, you will want a few more.
As far as the Pietta 51 Navy is concerned, I have the steel framed .36 and the brass framed .44 and I like the feel of the .44 better.

Right now, I can't decide whether I'd rather order the Pietta blued 58 .44 target revolver, the Spiller and Burr .36, or the Pietta 58 .36 Remington Navy revolver.
I wish they had the .58 Remington Buffalo revolver with a blued steel frame.

You can look at mine until you get yours. This is a 44 that was converted to
a 36 with Pachmayr grips. This is my competition revolver.

You should'nt compete in Europe with this.

BTW why not having used a .36? It must be tough to convert a .44 to .36?

Well. I don't plan on going there. I shoot against enough of you all here at
Friendship. And if you don't like those, here are some that came from England that I use also.
