Just received my NYS full carry permit

long island / westchester county permits have to be renewed every 4-5 years or so.

apparently they can't measure them by the inch because NYS IS BROKE.

is the very reason why I stand by my previous statement!

The biggest problem in NY is not the process of getting the permit...its that EVERY county has a DIFFERENT PROCESS/RULES!

If they used as much red tape licensing automobile drivers as they did concealed carry permits, just think how few people on the road would be legally driving.

When I lived on Long Island, It took me 6 months ot be approved for a pistol permit.

After retiring from the LIRR I moved here to South Carolina. Here it took a couple of months to get a full carry conceal permit. No hassel, and no BS, and just about every body carriess a gun.

PA is much like NH in most Counties.

The only 2 States where you actually have 2nd Amendment right are Alaska and Vermont. Those are the only 2 States you don't need permission and a license to avail yourself of your 2A rights. Why do we need a license to be allowed to use our 2A rights? You don't need a license to use your 1st, 4th, 5th or other rights Affirmed by the Bill of Rights so why do we need a piece of paper from the Government to be allowed to use our 2A rights? It's just not American I tell ya!!!

The one good thing about living in NYS is the great deals on handguns (especially revolvers). Since the pool of buyers is small, prices are pretty good. Plus we have some pretty decent gun shows. Where in NYS are you located?

You can say that again! I don't recall the specifics, but the last time I was there, I was really tempted to have one or three shipped to my FFL out here in SD. I don't recall if it was possible to do it without going through all that paperwork, though. Probably not, otherwise I'd have gotten a nicely customized BHP for $475.
