The one with an open sight...not the peep.

I saw it on an add they ran on youtube; could not find it on their website.

I guess why not. Find a niche. it not like people are knocking down the doors to buy remington 700's when a nicer bergara is only a little more, and savage/ruger/mossberg have the bottom of the market covered. I wonder if there would be a market for a $300 remarms 700 action.

It would have been nice if you had provided a link. I have not found such a video.

If Remington introduces the M1903 as built, they are introducing an action that has poor to non existent gas venting. The M1903 is prone to breaking firing pins, firing pin collars, and strikers. I have had breakage with all of those parts. I have seen gouged cutoff and bolt lugs because the impact area is too small. The original action was very expensive to make, maybe CNC could bring it down, but for the same effort, they could have made a 98 Mauser action, and would have had a safer, stronger, more reliable action.

The NRA magazine showed new M98's the Army had before it came up with the M1903. In every point of departure from a M98, the Army created a more dangerous and less reliable action. The Japanese at least created the Arisaka that might actually be better action than a M98, regardless, both are far superior to the M1903.

Not to mention, the ergos of the 1903 leave a lot to be desired IMO. The guys back then were evidently tougher then today.

Very interesting. Remington made the M1903 (as opposed to the 03A3) for a short period in 1941-42. I have one. I'd like to see how the new production compares.

In theory, since Remington was an original manufacturer, this would be a continuation of production and not a reproduction. Do you suppose any of the original tooling is being used?

But since Remington was also an original manufacturer of the 03A3, they could choose to make that, and that's a better gun.

Like a reproduction of the military M1903 or a sporting rifle with an M1903 inspired action?
It is a reproduction of the military 1903. I have no idea which version.

I personally would prefer one with a peep sight and pistol grip C stock, but
with milled parts; my old eyes don't work well with "open" sights.

I'm highly doubtful of this. The 1903 is a completely different action. I doubt there is enough interest in that rifle to justify tooling up to manufacture enough to break even. A company has to make a lot of something to get their investment back.

I could see a 700 action put in a look-a-like 1903 stock. Much like the Ruger 10/22's you see in M1 Carbine style stocks.

Perhaps Winchester or whatever they are called now will compete with an M1 Garand, Carbine or M1917? Remington could counter with a RI M1917. A Savage made No1MKIII or IV or M1911 would be cool too!
