So... one of my hunting buddies and I just sent off our applications for the Illinois drawing for November 19, 20 & 21. I'm excited! I think we're supposed to be getting an "antlerless only" and an "either sex" tag (if we draw out). Anyhoo... wish me luck 'cause I'll need it.
Edited to add: I'll also be hunting here in the Ozarks like every year. Are you going on any outta town hunting trips this year?

Where are you going this year?

best of luck to ya on your drawing.

i don't leave the state (s.d.) for hunting, but i cover most of the state in my hunting pursuits...

i applied for, and got rejected for an elk tag.
i applied for and received a black hills buck tag (6 hour drive).
i will apply for a deer tag for the western half of the state (7 hour drive).
i will apply for an antelope tag (6 hour drive).
i will apply for a tag for the eastern half of the state (2.5 hour drive).
i will apply for a tag for our farm (no drive).
and lastly, i will apply for at least one bow tag.

assuming success on all remaining drawings (pretty big assumption, but i've done it in the past), that will total 8 big game tags (we eat very, very little beef/pork/whatever in our house).

as you can tell, not many of our deadlines have been reached yet (at least for the critters i want to hunt), but that is what i am planning for this fall. of course, no tags required for the various gamebirds, and waterfowl is just over the counter stamps...
