It's my Strider SnG on my new Wicked Edge system - what an awesome set-up! I'm about 13 knives into it and I guess the stones are getting broken in because I'm suddenly getting edges you can read off of!

I had done the SnG previously so it was sharp but nothing like this. So I started at 1000 grit, then 1200 and 1600, really working them - at least 20 strokes each. Then I stropped with 14 and 10 micron paste on leater strops and then with balsa strops at 5 and 3.5 microns. Sweet!

It is by far the sharpest knife I've ever sharpened - it may be the sharpest I've ever held. Huge improvement over the factory edge, and it was sharp.

Here's my baby - a Bowie I made that was in Blade magazine. It took me 3-4 hours to reprofile and sharpen (and 2 cuts) but I did it!

I thought about getting one of those Don , but figured it would just keep my Sharpmaker and EdgePro company on the shelf.....

Yes you can! PM me and I'll give you my address. I'll even do the sharpening for free and you just pay the postage.

Got a look at the video of the sharpening outfit you're using and really liked it. Once I saw the asking price I thought it would be great for someone in the knife sharpening business, but can't say I'll own one - even with a fair number of knives to sharpen for work puposes...

Sweet, now imagine if you took it up to 4K, 8K, and 12K with water stones, and then use the paste.
You could read off it, and comfortably shave with it.
I'm getting all excited. Now I want to go hone some of my straights.

I'll bet that edge of yours will dress game like nobody's business.

Yea I don't know at this point if I will invest in the higher grit stones but it would be nice to see how super shiny it could be.

If anyone wants knives sharpened PM me - I'm doing them for the price of postage!

Investing in Band-aids

Having seen and used Valkman's knives with his edge before now, I am not sure one needs to invest in band-aids.
I see a increase in band-aids in use by Valkman, and his customers.

*grin*

12k plus 1/2 micron paste would be nice and shiny.
Overkill for a knife, but nice and shiny. I like shiny.
I don't go over about 750 grit (Smith's fine diamond hone) for the knives, scrapers, and utility knife blades I use at work.
Yes, I resharpen those disposable utility knife blades. Sometimes it's quicker and less hassle to give it a few strokes on a diamond hone than to take it apart and replace the blade. In my mind, anyway.
Plus, I can often put a better edge on it than it had new.
Your knives are impressive.

I don't use band aids anymore. I clean/disinfect the wound and then seal it up with super glue.

The worst cut so far was from a knife reprofiled at 100 grit - it already had such an edge it sliced through my right thumb nail like it wasn't there. Somehow it didn't bleed much at all so I just continued on. They don't have to be polished to be sharp!

BTW, keep those shapening requests coming!

Boy, that does look good!

I'd get one of those wicked edge systems myself if I wasn't so afraid that it's the mechanic and not the tool...
