I was just :D today.

I was shooting my Single Six quietly for a while at the range, and decided to pack things in... I headed back to the intermediate room between the range and the shop, and was getting my range form filled out, when one of the guys who works there, with whom I've chatted a few times while waiting for a station to clear, said,

"You wanna shoot my AR-15?"

Cool! So he gave me a few rounds of .223 and showed me how the thing works, and how to aim. I'd never shot a rifle before, except for a couple of times I shot a little .22 LR thing up north in Michigan (not U.P. north, just lower peninsula north) when I was a kid.

It had a nice scope on it (well, I don't know anything about scopes, but I thought it was nice), and once I figured out how to look through the thing, and how to find the paper at 25 yards, I went through some ammo and made a nice ragged hole (as well as some other holes) in the paper.

This is a glowing recommendation for Red's in Austin--the guys there are helpful and cool. As a new shooter who, frankly, isn't very good yet, they at least make me feel welcome, and they're knowledgeable, too.

I thanked him and checked out. The guy at the counter basically said we have to work together to keep ARs and other stuff legal, and that encouraged me--I'm going to contact the shooting club at U T and see what I can do. Maybe they have some kind of activism list.

But as I got into my car and left, I came up with what might be a cool T-Shirt idea:

Imagine a picture of a fairly spartan AR-15 (or any "scary black rifle  "). Above it is the text: "Why would anyone want to ban..."
Below is the text: "...something so fun?"

The back could be left for a website or something.

Anyway, I'm just putting that out there, since I don't have any t-shirt sales aspirations. I thought maybe somebody might like to use it or something. If anybody wants to use it, feel free. I know there are some people on THR that do that kind of stuff.

I dunno, I hate rambling on and on about myself, but I just was so frickin' :D that I wanted to share. Please don't flame me too much for starting a new thread for this!

That T-shirt sounds like it'd be a good conversation starter, if nothing else. It's true that a lot of the "anti" black rifle hype is due to ignorance on the part of the general public.
Now. Since you had so much fun. If you haven't already, go on over to

http://www.ar15.com/forums/board.html?b=3

But....be forewarned...it's a disease. A wonderfully fun disease....but a disease nonetheless.. :D

Congratulations on breaking your AR cherry. Do it one more time and you'll be truly addicted.

A good idea for the shirt and something we all know to be true, but Hillary, Osama, Pelosi, Shumer, The Brady Bunch and the other antis don't care about whats fun. There's a picture of Shumer shooting an Uzi with a grin from ear to ear. He's obviously having fun. It isn't about fun to them, its about disarming the serfs so that they'll be able to safely rule us.

picture of machine gun,SBR,revolver, etc: "so much fun it should be illegal" "oh, wait..."

or "Something this fun should be illegal" "Any more fun and it'd be illegal"

I am having two hoodys done up.On the back of one there are 3 Rifles standing with muzzles touching. The other has 2 with 2 pistol between. The caption reads Burning gunpowder can be addictive. The rifles are an AR15
scoped rifle and a 22 target.CANT WAIT TILL HIGHPOWER STARTA AGAIN:D
