Frist let me say that I am a long time Kahr fan. I bought my first Kahr about 10 years ago, it was an E-9 and I loved it. For some reason I sold it but then I bought a K-9. I bought another K-9 just because I wanted a back up to my first one. The K-9 is my all time favorite handgun. I have owned probably 50-60 handguns and the Kahr K-9 is still my fav.

The P-9 was brand new. I field stripped it and wiped all the oil off and cleaned it. I then lubed it with some grease and was good to go. I shot about 150rds with no jams at all. The problem I was having was the trigger was not resetting after some of the shots. If I would wait, I would hear the faint click and knew the trigger had reset. If I pulled the trigger all the way back and let it flick forward, it would reset as well. Not sure what the problem is but I am not happy with this in a new gun.

Also, it shot low and to the left and all my other Kahrs have always shot dead on. I am not impressed with the feedramp finish either. It looks like someone carved it with a pocket knife. The rest of the slide is fine but these three problems are not what I expect of my favorite gun company. I love the K-9 but the P-9 is not as well made I am starting to think.

Mine, which I bought used, has performed perfectly from the first shot. (Bought it from a forum member, here.) Its now my main carry gun, using a standard 8-round mag.

Could be break-in issues.

I frequently don't do well with a new gun -- but a session or two later, we seem to get along much better. (While it seems stupid to say it, polymer is different than steel... feels different, shoots different.)

Lube might be in order with regard to the reset -- like on the trigger bar... Or on the top outside of the mags. (Could the mags be rubbing?)

Contact Kahr, they have good warrenty service. Everyone lets a bad gun out from time to time.

Will never part with my little PM40.

I e-mailed Kahr and they e-mailed me back saying to send it in. I hate having to pay shipping on a brand new gun when I just paid shipping and FFL fees to get it! :fire:

I don't like problem guns and I am not sure how much trust I am going to have in it once it does get fixed.

I just took it apart and cleaned it again. I am going to shoot it one more time before I send it off just in case there was something that needed to be worn in to work.

I think when you buy a new gun and it has to go straight back to the factory, the factory should pay the shipping. Maybe then, they would try and get it right the first time.

This is my first plastic gun since the Kel-Krap P-32 I had. I thought I would give them another chance but it looks like the same BS. I am getting a SA XD-9 soon and I hope there are no issues with that plastic gun. I did have a Ruger P-95 that didn't have any problems so maybe the full sized plastic guns are not as problem prone.

If Kahr would just have made an aluminum or titanium framed pistol like I asked them to do in the first place, this would never have happened. :D

Albanian, the trigger reset was non-intuitive for my P9 on its first trip to the range. It was totally fine on the second trip, so I'd give it another try. As for the shot placement, I'd give that another go as well, making sure to verify that your grip is proper for this gun--it can be sensitive that way. It may be that your sights might need to be adjusted.

It should be fine after they fluff and buff it, Kahr is supposed to be good that way.

I agree that it should have been right to begin with for the price they are asking for those things. They should at least pay for the shipping.

Oh boy... I had KIND OF a similar problem with 3 seperate "P" series Kahr pistols. The issue didn't show up for SEVERAL hundred rounds, so it wasn't a "break in" problem. One of the guys (who no longer works there) told me it was a problem specific to the polymer ones and never happened with steel, so they finally replaced mine with a K40. I sold the K40 brand new without ever touching it.

Shame too, because the P40 was my favorite pistol until it started having problems. The first one to go on me was a P9, that got so bad in just ONE range trip, I could pull the trigger and it would CLICK but not fire. THEN, I could pull the trigger two or three more times WITHOUT RECOCKING THE PISTOL and it would eventually fire. Kahr calls it "premature striker release". I don't know if they hired Dr. Ruth to fix the problem or not, but two replacements later I was still able to reproduce that same thing after a few hundred rounds.

I sold all my Kahrs and replaced them with Glocks.

Fatelvis,

The mechanism is similar to a Glock but the trigger feel is different. It's a long light trigger pull, like a good DA revolver.
