It is an MK9, but the frame is the matte finish, and the slide is the blackened stainless. I looked on the web site for the same pistol, but wasn't able to find it. What gives about the two tone?

there were some "economy" line of kahrs a while back, more haggard finish on the metal, and i believe the slides were blackened carbon steel.

im not sure if that is what you are talking about, but it fits the description.

I don't think I've ever seen a Kahr with stainless frame and blackened slide... I'd think that might be a custom jobbie... But the E9s had the black frame and SS slide... I think it also had a staked on (or somehow not dovetailed) front sight and were supposedly a bit rougher.

The first Kahr I ever shot was an E9 and it was good enough to make me interested in buying a Kahr though I had no intentions of going with the E9 myself.

For the right price, I'd take one bit I prefer the full size poly Kahrs.

Thats it jdmb03.... I just wanted to be sure. I get suspicious sometimes :) To be honest, I think it looks bad a** :) I am very temped to buy it... but at $510 its a little steep. Another shop has a nice used P9 for $450, but I am not sure I can jimmy them down on the price.

I picked up a like new MK9 elite 98 on our classifieds board here for 450.

Do some looking around, you will find a better price.

I've seen a couple of these a shows in the last few months. These were not economy models. I think Kahr is falling victim to the gun of the month mentality that S&W did a number of years ago. Maybe they're trying to see what sells. I know the "Tactical Black" PM series guns seem to be in demand. Personally, I wouldn't pay any extra for a two-tone gun.

I have one of those.. I picked it uplocally for just over $400 out the door. The Box says that it is a MK9 Special Duo Tone.

that is true, you must factor in other costs...but 450 for my mk9 elite was the "shipped" price, and my ffl charges 20 bucks for the transfer...thats 470 dollars out the door,...

Better than the 600 something that another dealer quoted me to order one.:barf:

Id say that 470 aint too bad for such a sexy gun.

I'll put that price in perspective. I bought both my MK9 and K9 within one month of each other 3 years ago. Each cost me $500 before taxes. Of course each was equipped with night sights but they were the very best prices I could find at the time. One was purchased online from a dealer at a gun auction, the other was purchased from a dealer I knew very well and who had decided he'd had it about long enough (in other words he cut the price). Models without NS were about the same price. Both were new.

There was and all stainless MK9 Elite just like arinvolvo's sitting right next my PM9 at the gunshop. The beuatiful stainless gun attracted my attention initially but ended up buying the PM9 for a better (for me) carry gun. I always said I as going to save up for the stainless gun and send it off for some custom action work etc..... dreams are cheap any way.

My old E-9 had a SS frame and black slide. It was a nice gun and I was sorry everyday that I sold it. I made it up to myself by recently buying a near new all SS Kahr K-9. It is every bit as good as the E-9 if not better. The E-9 really doesn't lack any quality except the staked on plastic front sight and the two tone finish, the trigger may not be as nice either but that has not been my experience. For the money, the E-9 is a good deal. It is at least $100 less and you get almost the same exact gun.

I like my new K-9 so much, I have just bought another just like it. It should be at my dealer's sometime this week. Two of the same gun? Why do I do this? I have done this on serveral guns (Star BM, Ruger Speed Six, Ruger MKII, ect.)

erikd65,

I have one that fits your description. It was used when I bought it last year. The box describes it as a "duo tone" and the info on the box matches the gun.

According to posts in the Kahr section of GlockTalk, it is a cheaper model of the Mk9. Other posts on other forums say it's a more expensive version of the Mk9.I don't know what the real story is.

The gun shoots very well and is very accurate. It conceals easily and the black finish seems to last,

If it said MK9 on it then it was not an E9. I had a duo-tone MK9 briefly. I think they recently stopped making them. I bought it and took it back when I discovered light surface rust on the frame and deep pitting on a part of the slide and barrel. I would like to have another though.

The new Kahr PM9 (9mm) and PM40 (40 S&W) have polymer frames and blackened stainless slides. They have 3" barrels, are DAO, weigh 15.9 oz, and wholesale from $510 to $580 (with nite sites). That would put retail at $660 to $755. Gun Test liked them. They are the size of a Mustang Pocket lite (a "small" 380) and smaller than a S&W J frame. I think I'm going to sell a few personal guns and buy one for concealed carry. My only problem is figuring out if 16 oz is too light for 40 S&W. I'm not recoil shy, my car gun is 40 S&W(it's all steel though), my other concealed piece is a Kimber lightwight 45, but it weighs about 25 oz. Anyone out there have experience shooting a 40 S&W light weight pistol?
