I want to get setup to reload for my newly acquired K31 and have read, here and elsewhere, about the differences in dies that are available. I understand I could use any 7.5x55 Swiss die set but using the K31-specific dies will work the brass less which I like because, well, I'm cheap, and I want as many reloads as I can get out of the brass.
Since I'm cheap I wanted to get a set of the Hornady K31 dies (their number 546361) but nobody has them for sale and Hornady says they don't have them on their production schedule and they don't know when they'll be making them again (I emailed them to ask).
It seems the only(?) alternative is Redding's K31-specifc set (their number 80235) which seems to be available but that set retails for about twice the Hornady (if Hornady's set were available).
Is there another K31-specific die alternative I'm missing?
Or does someone want to lighten their reloading die inventory of either of those (If the Redding, presumably for a bit below new retail )?
In order to possibly avoid some questions:
Yes, I'm using brass from my inventory of GP11.
Yes, I know that GP11 brass is Berdan primed.
Yes, I've been able to deprime cases so far easily and quickly enough with an ice pick, a small hammer and an upside-down die body.
Yes, I already have Berdan primers (DAG Ammo has them in stock still).
Yes, I was able to very easily take off the three-point crimp with a Lee chamfer tool (I do this for once-fired HXP .30-06, too)
Yes, I already actively reload for other calibers; .30-06, .308, 7.62x54R, 9x18mm Mak
