I've got a K98 in 8mm with Nazi bird/swastika stamps on it, as well as 'dou' and '43' on the top. No foreign stamps are on it, and it's missing the cleaning rod. Any significance? I can't find much about it specifically on Google, so any help is appreciated.

Its a Waffen Werke Brunn Bystrica Made in 1943....Type in Mauser Karbiner 98 in google and you should be able to find the sight with the chart.

Well, if there's no serial number on the side of the stock and no X on the reciever or bolt, chances are it's a bringback/non-import rifle worth several hundred dollars.

Look up "K98 Codes" on google or go visit the K98 Collectors Forum on Gunboards.com for information about your rifle.

No X anywhere on it, nor a serial on the stock. Anyone have any information pertaining to it? Value? Can I restore it?

http://www.surplusrifle.com is a very good source of information and there is a forum there also where you can get some specific information.

Most, would say do not restore it because it will reduce any collectible value it may have but of course it is your rifle. I usually just clean them up as well as possible and shoot them.

Browse the forums, learn what you can and you will probably come to appreciate the rifle for just what it is. If it is a true veteran bringback ... you have something special in your hands.
