Has anyone bought the new Kahr CW9 yet? They should sell for not much more than $400 at discount stores, so they're quite a bit more affordable than the other Kahr models. For about $125 less than a PM-9 you get standard rifling instead of polygonal rifling, an MIM slide stop, cruder tooling on the slide, and no roll mark. None of these things bother me in a pocket carry gun, which is what I would use it for.

Lobotomy Boy ~

I reviewed the CW9 for Women & Guns a few months back. Have to say that I really, really liked the gun and found its accuracy excellent. Fired about 300 rounds through it before writing it up, and didn't have any malfs during that time.

Oh, the other cost cutting measure you didn't mention: pinned sights instead of dovetailed sights. They do have two pins holding them on, which is good.

The only issue I had with value from the CW9 is that it is shipped with only one magazine. Given that it is foolish to have a carry gun with only one mag, and also given that factory MSRP on the mags is about $40, going with the CW9 doesn't save quite as much money as it seems like it would. On the other hand, if you've got access to less-expensive mags, or if you need a gun right now with the money you have on hand, it's not a bad bargain to get the gun right away & pick up another couple mags later.

Did I mention I really liked that gun?

Thanks for the info, and thanks for the link. It is timely--my wife is shopping for a gun.

Magazine costs are a bit of a problem with a number of bargain-priced guns, like Springfield's XD series and most CZ models. Getting mags below retail can be next to impossible.

Lobotomy Boy,

Does the CW9 really fit your pocket comfortably and without printing? It looks a bit big for that to me. If it truly is a "pocket carry" gun I'd be interested in possibly buying one.

I haven't pocketed a CW-9, but I can comfortably carry a PM-9 in the pocket of my tightest jeans. It prints no more than a leatherman Wave or a key ring with two key fobs, and less than a Smith 642. The CW-9 appears to have the same dimensions so it should be similar.

I had a CW9... it pocketed ok, was slim and light... but I got rid of it and went with a Kel-Tec P-11. I figured, if I'm going to clean lint out of something anyway, I'd rather have 13 rounds in my pocket than 7... and the Moon thing bugged me.

I compared the PT-11 to the Kahr PM-9 side by side, and the Kel Tec was quite a bit larger and more uncomfortable in my pocket. They seem to be very good guns, though, and are much cheaper than the Kahrs.

I too would rather clean pocket lint out of a cheap gun than an expensive gun, which is why I'm considering the CW and not the PM. The Justin Moon thing doesn't bother me a bit.

You'll enjoy a CW... it was a fine shooter, and easy to carry... my P-11 is almost as thick as my G17... the CW is definitely slimmer in profile... never handled a PM9, so I don't know about that...

Hell my PM-9 fits fine in my front pockets of my work trousers or jeans.

Just looked at the specs.

This is just another E-series Kahr pistol. they should have learned their lesson with the Kahr E-9.

Why short a customer by shaving $100 or so off of the price when they are not getting a real Kahr.

What I like about my Kahr pistols was the roll stamped logo's, the dovetailed sights, and cuts for the slide to holster easy.

That CW9 is just a P9 midprocess - cheap as heck looking.

Better off to save and get a standard Kahr.

And how in sam-hell are you going to sell a CCW gun without night sights!!!!!

Big time pass - good marketing idea but bad for the shooter.

Can't sell a nice gun to everyone. :fire:
