Kahr CW9 misfire question

I have over three hundred rounds thru my CW9, every shot has been perfect except one that occured today:

I was halfway thru a mag and upon pulling the trigger nothing happened. I ejected the cartridge and found no mark on the primer. I fired off the rest of the magazine, loaded the one cartridge back in, chambered it normally, and bang it went.

Since this is a striker equipped pistol whereby the operation of the trigger pulls the striker back until it's released, how is it possible for the above to happen? One consideration could be I somehow didn't fully release the trigger after the preceding shot, I was doing some off balance SD exercises and I can't say for sure if it "clicked" when I pulled it or not.

Also-should the striker spring apply pressure to the striker for the whole stroke? I noticed, upon field stripping, that when the striker block is pushed up I can move the striker forward with my finger, it doesn't move on its own by the spring's pressure. It appears the last bit of forward motion is by inertia. Does that make sense?

I'm guessing the round in question didn't fully go into battery. Getting a click instead of a bang with no mark on the primer is a feature not a bug,as firing out of battery is the best way to blow up a gun with normal factory ammo.

I had lots of light strikes with my CW9 initially because the front frame rails warped. I returned the gun to Kahr and when I finally got it back it worked well, although I did have a few light strikes during the initial two hundred rounds. Been fine since.

Also be careful not to let oil or grease get in the striker channel as it can cushion the blow to the primer leading to unreliable ignition.

If the problem gets worse, check your front frame rails for warpage or splaying out. Kahr had a bad batch of CW9 frames fourth quarter of 2005, they'll fix it if needed. Mine was obvioulsy no good after 25 rounds, so I quickly sent it back.

I have a Kahr P45 that is having trigger reset issues. Last round in the mag loads, but the trigger doesn't reset. As to your issue, it could be the slide failed to return to battery or the trigger didn't reset. As to the operation of the trigger, the cocking cam actual pulls the striker back and pushes in on the striker block. The striker block is just that it keeps the striker from prematurely igniting the primer as a round loads into the chamber and slide returns to battery. So to answer your question, it does make sense that the striker will not move forward without the striker block depressed. The manual (p20) says to check the function of the striker block often. Keep an eye on it. I thought mine was just me getting used to the pistol. After 500rds, I think I'm getting used to the trigger reset enough to know it is not me.
