I recently purchased a Glock 34, and bought a Vanek Classic trigger (not the Grandmaster version as the Jager strikers are hard to come by). The whole thing came fully assembled, it just drops in. I installed the 4 pound striker spring.

I played with that for a bit and didn't like the feel of the set point before the striker goes off, so I swapped it out for the 4.5 pound spring.

During my twenty minutes of dryfire practice tonight, I noticed that the trigger was intermittently failing to reset after I pulled the slide back. This would happen regardless of release method.

After finishing, I went back upstairs and dismantled the gun, making sure that the trigger spring was installed correctly (things happen) and put the stock striker spring back in. I tried ten slide pulls without the magazine and ten more with an empty magazine in, so that I would have to use the slide release, and the Glock functioned correctly - but the trigger felt terrible. Mushy.

The Vanek kit includes a 4 pound striker spring, a 4.5 pound spring, and a 5 pound spring, so I installed the 5 pound spring. Another twenty slide checks and again, correct function.

Questions:

1). Is the striker spring likely the cause of the problem, or is it a happy accident that this change fixed the problem?
2). I do intend to swap out the striker for a Jager or Zev Tech, as it has been indicated that the replacement striker really makes the kit. Is this failure to reset something I'll have to manage with the replacement striker?
