Curious about your opinions about the Kahr K9, and the MK9 for concealed carry. Obviously the shorter MK9 I easier to hide without printing. However, I like the longer grip on the K9. Thoughts? Thanks in advance.

I will be taking possession of a P9 tomorrow in all black. The exact reasoning was the grip size being just enough to get a full grip. As far as the K9 goes, it looks so dang good I almost pulled the trigger on one of those instead even if is 8oz heavier. I'll be picking up a PM45 soon as it is nearly identical in dimensions as the P9.

The long smooth 6.6lb DA trigger is great for a defensive gun. As a side note I think it also makes it a great gun for folks new to concealed carry.

I have a K40 which IMO is "soft shooting" for a 40 - I imagine the 9mm version would be similar in that regard.
My wife has a P9 and its always been reliable, hundreds of rounds through it.
Unless you are trying to carry in a pocket, I'd get the larger pistol, K9.

I bought the MK9 when they first came out with the intention of pocket carry of which I have done plenty over the years. It's a bit heavy in that role and because of the squared off back of the slide that you have on most semi-autos sometimes gets hung up on clothing during the draw depending on the style of pants and size of pocket. The short butt and short barrel of the MK9 become moot if you carry IWB so I would recommend the K9 and carry IWB.

Bought an early stainless K9 and it's been my daily carry ever since.

People seem to want ultra-light polymer guns these days, but the K9 has a great deal to offer.
One is less recoil, another is a more solid feel in the hand.
The grip feels like a miniature Browning Hi-Power, and the trigger feels like a good S&W double action revolver trigger.
It has a very high "shootability".
People who run the small polymer autos at shooting schools are pretty worn out by the end of the day.
K9 shooters are still good to go.

Once you learn how to shoot double action you'll love it.
It's as safe to carry as a DA revolver, and my K9 has been a true 100% reliable since the day I bought it.
Unlike most other autos the K9 doesn't need anything in the way of alterations or "fluff & buff", and there are very few accessories around because it doesn't need any.

A pocket gun it isn't and it isn't inexpensive.
Kahr started the whole mini and micro gun thing and of them all, I still prefer my K9.

There's only one real quirk and that's that the magazines tend to shed rounds if carried loose. Pick a good mag pouch and that's not a problem.

My first Kahr was a CW40 and I bought it mainly because I really liked the slightly longer grip it offered, as well as feeling like I had more leverage in keeping it under control. I currently have a CM9 and with my smaller size hands it's a perfect fit for me in terms of it's size, being controllable, and of course, concealability.

If the K9 "feels better" in your hand, then by all means get it. Just figure on going the IWB holster route for concealed carry with this all steel pistol.

Thanks for the replies. It seems the K9 is getting the votes over the MK9. I like the idea of the MK9 being easier to conceal without printing, but I'm not sure it would fare as well in my large meathooks due to that short little grip. The K9 would fill my hands much better, and it's still a flat pistol, so maybe that's the better option for me. Also, with the right holster, and clothing, maybe there would not be much of a printing issue. Thoughts?

MK9 is really too heavy for pocket carry, IMHO, whereas the K9 is not so heavy as to make the P9 a more comfortable belt gun.

So the K9 is Kahr's best pistol, I believe, although the T9 is nice.

I have been using the SS K9 for edc for 15 years. I have ran thousands of rounds through it, mostly Speer gold dot 124+p, without any issues. I use this as my concealed carry weapon and back up gun when I was on the job. I like the smooth trigger on the k9 even though some people find it heavy and long. Compared to other DAO postols, IMO, it is one of the best. I don't have any experience with the MK9, but you can't go wrong with K9 though.

I have a K9 that I carried extensively before my girlfriend claimed it. It's a perfect size, thickness, and very soft shooter. I enjoyed carrying it. Replaced it with a Shield, lighter weight and lower price, but those are the only advantages.

I've carried an MK-9 for the past twenty years or so. It has always given great service. I have been sufficiently impressed by its accuracy, reliability, soft recoil, trigger, and safety so that I have been able to resist replacing it with any of the many good pistols that are now available. Having said all that, I must confess that had a K-9 been on the shelf when I bought my gun, I probably would have purchased it instead of the MK-9. As it is, I always carry with the longer extra round magazine which extends the grip to K-9 length. It would be hard to go wrong with either choice.

Incidentally, Kahr recently introduced a new model with a poly frame, several improvements, and a very righteous price. If you aren't wedded to the all steel pistol, you might want to check it out.

K9. I’ve owned quite a few Kahr pistols including the MK9.

The K9 is the flagship of Kahrs lineup for a carry gun. Perfect combination. Carries easily yet shoots like a real gun.

Unless you want to strictly holster carry. Then, you might want to look at the T9. It’s the only Kahr I have currently and, it’s just incredible. If I sent them my hand and said “build a gun around that....”. I would get a T9 back.
