The polymer Kahrs have metal guide rods. The metal Kahrs have plastic guide rods. Kahr sells a metal guide rod in their custom shop for their metal guns to replace the plastic one that comes with them all. And Wolff makes a metal aftermarket replacement like I mentioned previously just for the MK9. There are a few aftermarket custom makers that also make metal guide rods for the metal Kahrs.

No, that is incorrect. All Kahr guide rods are steel, whether polymer frame or steel, makes no difference. If you have a plastic guide rod it isn't original to the gun.

Unlike you, I own and shoot these guns and are very familiar with them, having purchased seven of them. I'll post a picture of my Kahrs and steel guide rods if you'll post a photo of your plastic ones. Deal? You go first.

I own a K40 totally stock...with it's OEM steel guide rod.

You must have only have the larger guns then. I'll post a picture of the MK9's plastic recoil assembly when I get home later today. I have two of them. One is unfired in box from 1998 and one is from 04'.

The MK9's come with a captive plastic recoil spring assembly. The K9's have the blackened metal one, you're correct about the K9.

Yes the MK model may have a polymer guide rod in it's two spring, captive style assembly. Kahr sells both polymer or steel. The K and T model only have steel guide rods.
