I recently acquired a used Kahr K9 9mm. After I had shot it and taken it home to clean, I noticed that it had a pretty good slide rattle with the magazine removed. There is also a little vertical play as well.

I know that this probably won't affect accuracy and the gun functioned fine at the range, but I am kind of picky. Is there any way to tighten up the slide or do you know of somebody who I could send it to have it done?

Anyone else have this problem?

Don't Sweat it

Zackmeister,
I have 4 Kahrs and they all have some slide play. I was a bit concearned about the vertcal slop with the magazine removed myself at first. Then it dawned on me that I won't be shooting them without the magazine in place. They all shoot quite well BTW. I sometimes plink at sitting clay birds at a distance of 65 yds and the little guns can hit them with surprising regularity. :)

A good many Kahr's have slide rattle with the magazine out.

The true test is, is the gun accurate, and is it reliable.

If the answer to both is YES, than ANY tampering to "fix" a non-problem on a pure defense gun is NOT smart.

You "Fix" things like this on plinkers and toys, NOT on "business" guns.

I agree with dfariswheel on this. Unless it becomes a problem in some way, why spend money and time on it? There is a lot that could go wrong and if it is working and accurate, what do you stand to gain?

I have a friend that is not very handy yet he gets it into his head that something or other needs to be "fixed" and most often, he has ruined it and it costs him big. I hate it when he somehow decides that I should be the one to help him fix his guns. He recently took his Mossberg 500 apart to clean it and install a new forend and now it is sitting in pieces because he can't get it back together again.

I don't mind helping him out once in a while but the boy just doesn't seem to learn to not mess with something unless he is sure it can be fixed or knows how to fix it. I am going to have to spend my time correcting his mistakes.
