I purchased a NIB Kahr K9 last year. It went straight into the safe, and only recently did I take a look at it. It is an older matte black finish model made in 1995, I think.

One thing puzzles me. The front sight is loose and rattles a bit. It feels like something is pinning it and is preventing it from coming off the slide, and there is a slight springy feeling when I manipulate it with my finger. It stays put in the same position however.

Is this normal?

This is WRONG and the slide should be returned to Kahr for a correction.

In the early days, Kahr had a problems with sights so loose, they sometimes actually fell out.

They corrected the problem by installing sights so tight, some gunsmith's have had to CUT them out of the slide.

Apparently, about 1-2 years ago, they had problems again for a short time.

I'd recommend contacting Kahr, and make arrangements to send in the slide.
Since they'll probably need only the slide, this shouldn't be as big a deal as sending the entire gun.

Yeh,

I had the same situation. I put a drop of Loctite under the sight and that was the end of it.

No more problem.
