I'm in the market for another small single stack 9mm. Any owners have opinions of this particular pistol? Good or bad, I wanna know!

Thanks for any and all info.:)

I have the smaller brother - the CM9 and it has been flawless so far and a lot more comfortable and accurate to shoot compared to my 642 J frame

My CW9 has been flawless as well, for about 500 rounds. The trigger takes a little bit of getting used to, but it is accurate once you do. The reset is kind of long to me also.

It is not snappy per se but I found I got much better purchase on the grip once I added the hogue slip-on sleeve. When I first bought it I couldn't figure out how to grip it firmly but comfortably, and a couple times found myself dropping the mag when firing, but the grip sleeve somehow eliminated this problem. Then again I have real long fingers so this may not be a problem for you.

Fantastic, thanks for asking. Not an owner, bought one as a gift and it has been stellar for reliability, carry-ability and accuracy. Recoil is amazingly mild for such a lightweight pistol. I was about to spring for one myself when I happened on a deal on K9s so I opted for a stainless frame Kahr. I'd bet dollars to donuts it won't be my last Kahr, still itching for a CW or CM.

I like the mid sized Kahrs, (CW, P and K), because they are just about the perfect size and weight for carry. Big enough to shoot well, get a good grip on and control but small enough to easily conceal.

I really like the larger Kahrs though, TP and T.

Thanks all for replies.

With the single stack design, I'm guessing the Hogue slip on is close to necessary? I've got medium sized hands, and my fingers aren't like E.T.'s, hoping to try one on Saturday at Cabelas.

They've got them for 399.99

Edit: obviously, I can't read. They're $369.99

I owned a CW9 for a while. The slip grip does help a good deal with the thinness and the rough texturing. It was just a tad bit picky about certain SD loads but was 100% with my preferred carry and practice rounds. My biggest problem with it was the sling shot requirement and me being a lefty.

I have a 'relative'. My MK9 that I've had for several years is a joy. BEST DA trigger I've shot and it has NEVER choked on anything. Great accuracy for its size too. I'm sold on the Kahrs.

I have the CM9 (CW9's little brother), and my father has an MK9 (basically the same pistol with a steel frame). Both have been 100% reliable out of the box with every single load we've ever fired from them.

On a side note, I've never seen the need for the Hogue slip-on grip with my CM9, so to each his own.

Have had mine about a year. Great gun. In fairness, mine was used ($300 + S&H and FFL) so I didn't have any break-in time. The long trigger pull is similar to a DA revolver in length, but smoother since you're not turning a cylinder.

Sights are dot-the-I and are adequate for most shooting. The gun is big enough to grip solidly and comfortably , yet slender enough that it can easily be worn IWB without looking like you have a goiter on your hip. Recoil isn't bad at all - the thickness of the grip is "just right," so that it's not uncomfortable to shoot (think the pocket .380s). It's not a problem to shoot 50-100 rounds at a time. I don't have a rubber slip-on on mine, and haven't had any problem hanging onto the gun, even when sweaty.

My one and only complaint is that my mag release is rusting. I'm going to break it down this morning and look at it. Might have to order a new one from Kahr.

edit to add: forgot to mention, I have small hands and the gun works great for me. Some double-stacks give me a hard time about grip thickness, reach to trigger, etc., but this one is perfect.

Got the CM9 as well. Have not tried the Hogue grips and most likely won't. For me the gun feels fine and shoots great, with my medium to large sized hands.

PM9 is a great gun, BUT the two guys I know who had them for EDC went to a Sig 938, it's easier to conceal and easier to shoot accurately. The standard night sights are nice as well.

I started with a PM9. Liked it a lot as a concealed carry weapon then I came across a good deal on a CW9 and bought it with the intention of leaving it at my daughter's home 2000 miles away so I could carry when I visit her and not have to bother with airport TSA headaches.
If I had bought the CW9 first I wouldn't have bought a PM9 at almost twice the money. I have had no complaints with the CW. I will probably buy a K series some day.

Thanks all for your opinions, stories, and reviews. After having read EVERYONE'S posts thus far, I've decided to buy a CW9.

Edit: what's this I'm reading about excessive slide rail wear? You guys experiencing this?

Nope got one in 2006 and have run about 50 rounds a week through it ever since. I've replaced the recoil spring twice, the striker spring once and the mag springs once (I've enough mags to load up 50 rounds for an outing). I rarely take it apart for cleaning, I just flush it with break parts cleaner, wipe it down, run a bore snake through it, and add a few drops of oil to the rails and the barrel lockup after each outing.

OK, I'm a newbie to this site, and, at 55 y/o, I'm only been a gun owner for less than a year. I got a CW9 used & when it fired, I hit the bullseye. I loved how it felt. But after 50 rounds, I was running about a 20-40% FTF (light striker hits), for about the next 100 rounds. My local gunsmith sent it to Kahr, & he told me nothing was wrong with it but that he would put a new spring in it. I tend to ask a lot of questions, and he finally stated that he's repaired many types of guns, and Kahrs are a little "unique". The tone he said this with made me a little uneasy. He also said it may be the way I'm firing it, perhaps limp wristing. Anyway, I got the CW9 back, fired 20 rounds without a problem, and sold it on armslist. I have owned several pistols over the past few months, and have had no issues like this with any other. But I recently wanted to buy another single stack pistol, and there a a ton of satisfied Kahr owners out there. My choice came down to the S&W M&P Shield, or the Bersa BP9CC & I went with the Bersa

I'm very pleased with my CW9. To me, it's about the perfect autoloader for CCW. Small enough that you can take it with you anywhere yet large enough to get a full grip and shoot surprisingly accurate. I also think the trigger is great and love the bar-dot sights. +1 for the hogue grip too. Makes a little more comfortable to shoot although the gun is fine without it too. Only issue I have had with it is I need to make sure the mag release button isn't getting pressed up against anything when carrying IWB such as the edge of my holster. I was putting it in a Remora holster made more for the size of my SR9c and the edge/trim of the holster landed right on the mag button and when pressed against my love rolls would sometimes release the mag. I think this is more a using a holster for a different gun issue, but the mag button does seem to be a bit too easy to press. Curious if others had this issue too?

What did Kahr do to remedie the gun, if anything?

I'll direct you guys to post #47 and #49. http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=665672&page=2 Both our used Kahrs came from NYPD and were packed with grease as were others. The stuff I found was akin to axle grease, couldn't believe anyone, let alone an NYPD armorer would be so clueless. Picture what happens as you empty a tube of grease from a grease gun. Now pretend the rod is the pistol's striker.

Used guns should always have a good inspection and cleaning before any range fun. I'm at 400 rounds and 3 range sessions since its last cleaning without issue and when my holster arrives my Kahr will go with me.

Kahr put in a new spring. He really didn't think that was the problem, but didn't think it would hurt. I had researched this problem on the internet, & a new spring did solve many similar issues. The Kahr guy was very helpful & there was no charge.

I have a P9 which I bought several yrs. ago when Kahr first came out. I love the gun. It carries well even w/o a holster---pocket sized. It produces a bit of a kick esp. with corbons and the Hogue soft grips are a good idea. Accurate pistol but the long reset and travel in the trigger take some getting used to. I have small hands so the grip and reach are good. My daughter has a Ruger LCP .380 and the Kahr kicks much less than her gun. She wants to swap me. I will probable do it since my CCW of choice is a Kimber CDPII pro or a Sig P239 .357.

Great value guns IMO. I owned the P9. Fine shooter for a light, thin CCW. Still, it's a light, thin 9mm CCW that will not shoot (e.g. comfortably) like a full size gun. Wont' carry (e.g. uncomfortably) like one either... which is the point.
