Kahr PM45 Problem

Yeah, a lot of good gun companies still make lemons..

Glock, Springfield (for their XD), and H&K make the most reliable pistols IMO..I think you have a better chance of being struck by lightning than getting one of these to malfunction. (i know i know, not really:))

Erm, Kahr specifically warns against manually dropping a round into the chamber. This action will damage the extractor and you could end up sending the gun to the factory (ask me how I know this...). :uhoh:

Like most guns you hear about on forums, you mostly only hear about the bad ones. I owned a brushed nickel K40 Kahr when they first came out. There was a deal with Kahr and dealers to have all employees of the gun shop I helped out at carry a Kahr for super cheap. I think I paid $175 back then. This was my first carry gun and I still to this day have not put as many rounds through "one" gun. I would say somewhere around 15K. I loved the gun but got stupid one day and used it as trade material for the next best thing.

The three of us at the gun shop one day taped toonies (2 dollar canadian coins) to our target and set it out to 15 yrs. I hit mine first shot and won 30 bucks.

zx12rider. your dead right in ur statement. We normally only hear of the bad things that happen to a particulargun, and hardly ever the good. Nice to hear your old k40 kahr worked so super. My new PM9 kahr has 17,000 rounds down range and goes bang every time. I get accused alot for always bragging on my two kahrs and beent old you just got lucky yadda yadda, but facts are facts, my two kahrs have been perfect and my K9 I even bought used off the AR-15 forum. Derfinitely I could not hit the 2 dollar coin at 15 yards, but definitely not the guns fault. My eyes at 65--well u know, they are the second thing to go!!!

I bought my Kahr P40 as soon as they came out, and I still carry it.

OK Folks here is the update. I took my PM45 to the range on Sunday with the loaded round. By the way that round was a re-load. Point the gun douwn range and let her go. That cleared the gun. I then put in a 100 rounds toward my break-in period. The first 50 the slide kept locking back. Could be I damaged the gun. The next 50 went much better. I love this gun and it is the second Kahr that I have bought. I got it home and gave it a good cleaning. I can't wait to get back out on the range.

ed4032. you didn't damage anything, and that would not be causing the slide to lock open.

PM sent..

maybe

I have had a couple small guns that during recoil I have by mistake bumped the slide release and caused it to lock back. Not saying this is what is wrong but a thought. Big hands + small gun = duh!!!

process of elimination, before sending a gun back, check things out that could be shooter related. If you have issues, then let another "shooter" try it, if the same issues persist, you can reasonalby assume the firearm has the issue and not you...

FWIW I've had problems with knock-off magazines. I'll assume you are using the factory mag, but I felt it was worth mentioning.
