Kahr PM9 Slide Finish

Stainless or Blackened Stainless, and why? I'm about to buy the pm9 and am not really sure the best way to go as far as the slide finish. (The blackened stainless costs about $25+- more.)

I like the look of the black one better, but I'm sure the stainless will look new for longer since the black won't resist scratches as easily as the stainless. I've only seen two Kahrs in black, and both had some scuffs and scratches from what looked like abuse, but maybe the finish is just not as Glock-like as most of us would prefer it to be.

I've owned a Kahr PM9 in stainless, and now I want one in black. Both are nice though.

I've always been a stainless guy if I have the choice. That being said I bought a used PM9 with the blackened slide and it has held up very well during the two years I have owned it. This has been my primary carry gun and I tend to sweat quite a bit in the summer.

I own a PM9 with the stainless slide and like it a lot. The only reason I've heard for having the blackened is to make the gun harder to see by a perp attacking you. I guess the glare in a defensive situation could be a problem in sighting the gun too.

Mine is black. I prefer all black for a CCW. If the wind blows my coat or shirt and accidentally exposes my pistol, black just doesn't stand out as much. I like the look of shiny stainless better but want my carry gun to be black.

The newer black coating is DLC Diamond Like Coating, or Diamond Like
Ceramic. This stuff is very hard and scratch resistant, much harder than
the steel it is coating. It is widely used in the custom knife industry to
produce a tough coating that stands up under heavy use.

Some of the older guns have other types of black coatings that did not
stand up as well, as well as some of the early guns of blued carbon steel.
