Any information regarding smoothing, lightening, tuning, adjusting the extremely heavy trigger pull on the Kahr Thompsons?

Any help/advice would be appreciated - Thanks

Buy a copy of Jerry Kuhnhausen's book "The Colt .45 Automatic: A Shop Manual".
This is THE standard gunsmith's reference on the 1911 pistols, and covers everything about disassembly, repair, tuning, reassembly, troubleshooting, accurizing, AND trigger work.

These are available from Brownell's, Midway, and many online book sellers, for around $30.00.

Money WELL spent for any 1911 owner.

Hi, feinc,

Do you mean the Kahr Thompson M1911 pistol clone or the Kahr Thompson semi-auto rifle (Thompson SMG lookalike)? If the former, dfariswheel is right on. If you mean the latter, you can smooth up the surfaces a bit, but that mechanism is not designed for a light pull.

WHOOOPS, never thought about the Kahr/Auto Ordnance Thompson rifle.

To do a trigger job on the 1927-A1 series Thompson rifles:

LIGHT polish of the area on the firing pin where the sear acts.
LIGHT polish on the sear.
LIGHT polish on the top of the lifter. (The part that's riveted to the trigger).
On all....NO metal removal or angle changes, just polish.

Remove about one coil from the trigger spring.

Remove a couple of coils from the hammer spring. (That's the long spring in the center of the bolt that powers the cylindrical hammer).

I DON'T recommend altering the sear spring.

Other then these alterations, there's just not much that can be done. The gun was designed to use as many auto parts as possible, and yet not be convertible to full auto....thus the complicated trigger design, and the bad pull.
