Dang , my state doesn't met the requirement ..... ..another excuse NOT to visit the in-laws . Actually it means I really need to get a Florida non-resident permit .
I couldn't agree more. They were dragging their feet about giving me my CCW permit, despite my service in the USMC, until I gave as references a decorated (retired) LEO and the Wayne County Republican Chairman.
Still, its annoying to deal with the lack of uniformity. Hell, I never know what borders I can legally cross. :banghead:
When two states agree to treat each other's permit holders as they would their own, they have entered into a reciprocal agreement. That's reciprocity. It's bilateral.
When one state decides to honor another state's permit without the other state doing the same, the first state has recognized the other state's permit. That's recognition. It's unlateral.
Several states recognize New York State permits but New York State doesn't recognize permits from any other state and has no reciprocity with any state. New York City does not recognize any other permit, not even from New York State, but several states recognize New York City permits, and its Mayor Michael Bloomberg holds everyone else in contempt.
