Here's the deal. I have two scopes to get rid of. Free to good home. Since it's my stuff until I drop it in the mailbox, here's my stipulations: They have to go to kids (under 18) and the kid in question must already know how to shoot with iron sights. Can be your son/daughter, nephew/neice, etc, but they must be a shooter with a rifle and be shooting irons right now. If you can drop a grand for a scope to top juniors $2000 rifle, please pass and let someone else get a freebie to help along a young shooter.

In either one week or when this drops off page one where it will be seen most, I'll ask my wife to pick two numbers between one and X (number of interested parties), then flip a coin to determine which person gets which scope. They are both in good working order, one is a 3-9 variable, the other a fixed 4X. I'll PM the "winners" to send the scopes.

Figured I'd mention this, after all, it's supposed to be free to the karma-ee from the karma-er.

First time I've seen that used where I actually liked it.

My 10 year old has a scoped rifle already and he's decided he'd rather shoot my .22 High Standard pistol to "rescue carboard hostages" as he puts it.

Very cool idea 1911 guy, you're the man!

Since you came up with this, I'll chip in with a little of my own.

When my daughter first started to shoot, her arms were too short for the factory 10/22 stock. At the time the High Road was not in use, but a member of The Firing Line sold me a stock he had cut off for one of his kids. It kept me from having to saw off my nice one.
Now my daughter's 12 and no longer needs the short stock.

The stock was shortened by about 2 inches. It includes the stock, barrel band, and sling studs. The section that was removed is also included and still retains the metal butt plate, in case you want to section it and install dowel pins to lengthen it out a little at a time.

All I ask is that once your little one outgrows it, you pass it on to another kid who needs it.

If interested, contact 1911 guy. Same deal...his wife can pick a number and the winner gets it. I'll pay postage. 1911 guy can give me shipping instructions.
As long as all of this meets 1911 guy's approval. This is after all his post and his good deed. I'm just tryin to help out.
 
My 14 year old cousin just got his 1st rifle. It's a .22 lr Remington, and it came with a cheap tasco sight that has been troublesome. I'm sure he would get more enjoyment out of shooting with a better scope.

edit: I guess he doesn't meet the requirements since he isn't using the iron sights, though.
 
Karma for the kid

Hey first thanks alot to you for providing some lucky kid with a new scope.
I have a 10yr old well 10 in a week or so that has been shooting my targetmaster the last few times we have went out. He is a pretty good shot with my SKS w/ iron sights. I am sure that he would really enjoy a scope for the targetmaster. Thanks!!
 
My 14 y/o daughter has a Marlin 60 and does very well with it. She tried a buddy's scoped 10/22 and later said she prefers the iron sights!

Very generous offer. Count me on the sidelines for this one.
 
Sure count me in. I only have one scoped rifle, a 10/22 with a HEAVY bull barrel, and this would not be very appropriate for the small statured teens of one friend and the yound girl of another friend though admitidly the younger girl is a better gun handler and shoots than the two teenage boys who still need iron sight skills unlike the girl!

I'm nineteen and can shoot with ironsites great, do I count? =o
May I also add that I have the mind of a six year old?

I'm only 17.:) I definately don't have a grand to lay down on a new fancy scope. If I had that kind of money, I'd buy a ticket to a desert island where I could be king & let everyone have guns & ammo. We'd eat what we catch, live where we want, how we want. :) How much is shipping on a scope?:confused: As far as iron sights go, I'm a decent shot with a .22 rifle.
 
What a great idea!

My 10 year started out on a Chipmunk with iron sights and now has a 10/22 with a scope. Last year my 7 year old HAD to have a scope on the Chipmunk. He is a good shot with iron sights on his BB gun so I figured why not. He now wants me to take it off, says it makes him shake too much :D
I am going to take it off until he can learn how to shoot with a scope.
 
Well, schucks. My daughter's too young to be shooting yet (she'll be 2 in April), and my second won't even be born until May. Heck, I don't even have iron sighted .22 rifles for them yet.

Oh well, maybe in a half dozen years this will come up again.

None of the young kids in my family shoot...cept one who's like six...but he has a Daisy with a scope on it. XD

I probably goofed up my earlier post; my daughter loves her iron sights and doesn't want a scope.
Let someone else have a shot at it.
