You may remember a number of threads over the past few months, discussing the dispersal of New Orleans' (large) criminal class to other cities as part of the post-Katrina evacuation process. Well, hard evidence is now emerging of how this has contributed to the crime problem in their new homes...

(Looking at their mug shots, don't these seem like the sweetest evacuees you ever hoped for? )

From WWLTV (http://www.wwltv.com/local/stories/wwl012706khevacueesmurder.4479d895.html):

Eight Katrina evacuees arrested in violent crime spree in Houston

Police still searching for three additional suspects

Wendell Edwards / KHOU 11 News

Investigators with the new HPD Gang Murder Squad say they've linked 11 Katrina evacuees to a string of violent crime in Houston. Eight of them are in custody but police are still searching for the other three.

Police say the men are suspects in at least nine Houston murders and two in Pasadena. All of the victims were also Katrina evacuees.

The 11 suspects are also wanted for at least seven other violent crimes including aggravated assaults, armed robberies and carjackings.

All of the crimes took place between November and January.

Police are hoping the public can help them nab the three remaining suspects.

They're especially anxious to find Ivory Harris who goes by the nickname "B-stupid." Police describe him as very violent and dangerous. Harris is charged with aggravated robbery and aggravated kidnapping and suspected of murder.

The other two suspects still on the loose are Travis Jordan, charged with aggravated robbery, and Terrence Richards, wanted for allegedly evading detention in a Webster case.

The following suspects are in custody and charged:

--Kalvin Forcell: Charged with murder in a fatal shooting at 9373 Richmond Avenue on November 20, 2005

--Alvin Sims: Charged with capital murder in a fatal shooting of two Louisiana men at 8901 Bissonnet on December 31, 2005

--Jason McMaster: Charged with aggravated robbery and aggravated kidnapping

--Cornelius Gordon: Charged with engaging in organized crime and possession of a weapon

--Daryl Robinson: Charged with murder in a fatal shooting at 11555 Bissonnet on December 25, 2005

--Tyler Mackyeon: Charged with deadly conduct and aggravated robbery

--James Taylor: Charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle

--Keith Ron Williams: Charged with assault-family violence

Investigators say the suspects and victims lived in rival housing projects in New Orleans. They say the rivalry goes back for generations and was probably the motive for many of the murders.

The Gang Murder Squad was recently created to investigate various homicides in Houston believed related to gang activity. Investigators assigned to the squad analyzed some cases in the southwest Houston area and began to realize many of them were connected, whether it be by victims, suspects, or other means.

If you have any information about the suspects, Houston Police ask that you call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.

There was a story last week, I am trying to find a link, about a home that was broken into and robbed.

Both the victims AND the perpetrators were Katrina refugees...

Some kind of interfamily squabble or something.

It's going to get worse I am sure.

I responded to a shooting just two weeks ago, and guess what? The gang-banger, drug dealers who tried to kill a crowd of people were all "refugees."
