So, my dad owns and operates a small gunshop in Dubois Pa so he comes across quite a few toys, that fortunately, i can get my hands on for very cheap. The other day a man came into the shop and practically GAVE him a 1914 colt 1911. i forget the serial number, but being we both love 1911s, it is quite the pistol. although its got pitting and not a beauty, it is all functional and the stamping isnt completely worn off. after seeing this, he says to me "since i have this, you can have my old 1911 to go with your other one." what was this pistol he was passing on to me? a Remington Rand 1911. all orignal still right down to factory plastic grips. needless to say i was estatic. i love the history of these pistols, and upon getting it, i checked for all the proof marks and whatnot. they all match up.. what i was wondering is if there was any legit value here? its a very low serial number in its run for the year. NO957007. any info on this pistol? the factory parkerizing is worn down smooth. but not really a lot of pitting or anything to the metal.. some here and there, definately looks like its been used in the service, but im just wondering any info? first post, but im looking forward to more! ill post some pics if theyd help but i really dont have too nice of pictures yet and really wanted some info from this forum and not getting passed onto a different forum! Thanks!
