Keep the Feds out of concealed carry?

S.176: Common Sense Concealed Firearms Permit Act of 2011
Sponsor: Sen. Barbara L. Boxer (D-Calif.)
Status: Read twice and referred to the Committee on the Judiciary.

This bill mandates a nation-wide concealed carry permit process, forcing states with less stringent permit laws to accommodate a more restrictive federal standard. Under this bill, Vermont could no longer allow concealed carry simply on the basis of American citizenship, and a permit applicant would have to prove he is worthy of the public trust. Rather than assuming the right to carry for personal safety, in the words of the bill, gun owners will have to demonstrate good cause for requesting a concealed firearm permit.

We're already seeing it! So much for the RIGHT to keep and BEAR arms!!

And that's where it will stay. A lot of bills are introduced just so a politician can say: I introduced a Bill that would ....... and it's for the Children..... and the other party would not support it because they hate the Children....

This might be a ploy to spark enough fear into the hearts of Americans to accept the equally bad but much more benign sounding HR 822 or HR 2900. All these bills incorporate unconstitutional state law and will amount to Feral(Federal) Government recognition and acceptance of all these state laws as being constitutional. All that's left would be to add a last minuet amendment that would restrict the Supreme Court from adjudicating in this arena with the congressional power in Article III, Section 2, Clause 2.

All three of these bills are a danger to freedom.

That is what it will be like to get a carry permit if the feds get involved.

we assume we have the right to carry.......because we DO have the right to carry.

do these people just sit around all day and think of ways to wipe their hind-side with the constitution....?

or have they literally just never read the darn thing.

The VCDL will undoubtedly monitor S.176 and report further. Consider the source; she's always been anti-gun. Further, realize that a companion bill must also be introduced in the House.
