Keep your gun boxes?

Not all.
Only the ones that will matter someday.

My older S&W, Colt, Winchester, and Browning boxs, and a few others, are wrapped in plastic and have a safe place in the basement.

Most of the more modern and less collectable stuff went in the trash eventually.

I usually keep all boxes for a while, until I decide if the gun is a keeper or not.

Not sure why though.
My kids will likely throw them away someday when I'm gone, and I'm not selling the guns before then.

Yes.....I keep all mine. Also, i've been seeing at a lot of gun shows, they ask if you have your box with the gun so I just keep em'.

Yes, mostly.

The boxes serve as a 'back-up' of purchase history.

Can't hurt, might help, so why not?

I keep every box for every gun. I don't know why. It just seems like a good thing to do. Besides, IF I every sell or swap one, it is just a nice touch to have the box. Lets the buyer know I take care of and value things.

I save lots of things, for example, I have every receipt for every mag, box of ammo, holster.....that I have ever purchased. ???? just weird I guess

Even cheap cardboard boxes are useful to a shop for displaying or selling the piece, so I keep them. I get better trade-in value with them.

I keep the handgun boxes as well as some of the rifle boxes...especially if they're made of plastic.
Of course, I am a serious pack rat.

In fact, I have the cardboard box from an old Colt Woodsman I bought used back in the 80's. Still got the gun too.

I'v bought so few guns that had boxes that I've only got about 5% of my guns covered. I have only managed to find 3 used guns that still had the boxes when I bought them. I've only got 1 that is plastic and it is a Colt I bought used, all the others are too old to have had plastic boxes.

I recently bought an SKS which came with the box. You don't find that every day, so I'll keep it.

I used to. But it's a too big of a guessing game as to which ones will matter years down the road. Space is tight, so out they went. Now I just keep them for the first year or so, in case I need to ship them in for warranty work. After that, bye-bye.

Keep 'em all....

I'd estimate over time there are less than 10% of guns in existence that have boxes. All supply and demand, since no more are being produced collectors looking for a complete package like the day it came from the store.....and will gladly pay the premium. For the most part boxes will add between 15-25% more to a gun. Guns that are more than 50 years old can see prices go higher with a box.

I'd be willing to pay four figures for some of the original boxes of my guns.....(must include factory marked serial number on box to match the gun)

please don't talk to me about boxes.i have so many i need a utility room just for empty boxes.lol....ever had the manufacture of anything specify that it must be sent back in it's original box and the product carries a lifetime warrenty? i think i'm going to build a kids playground for the neighborhood out of all my boxes.

I keep handgun but not rifle boxes. Rifle boxes used to just be some piece of cardboard not worht keeping. Handgun boxes have always been fancier. Now a lot of the black rifles come with hardcases.
