I've had a k/t p32 for almost 10 years now. Lately I've had 3 or 4 missfires on different ammo. I'd like to remove the firing pin and clean the channel and possibly cut about 2 coils from the spring.

Does anyone know what kind and size bit I will need and anything else that maybe helpful.

Not sure it needs total dissembly and hole reaming.
I would just hose out the firing pin with Gun-Scrubber and blow it out real good with an air hose.

And I would not cut the firing pin spring off two coils, because it will compromise drop safety to some degree.
After 10 years, it is already weakened considerably from use.

I think your problem has more to do with a weakened hammer spring in the grip from 10 years of use.
I'd call Kel-Tec and have them send you a couple.

Ask for Service, not parts.
"Parts" will sell you the springs & charge for shipping them.
"Service" will send them too you free.

Be careful when you put the new spring back in, as you have to reach down through the grip with a screwdriver and stretch the spring retainer cap back in place.
It is very easy to over-extend the spring and stretch it far enough to weaken the new spring putting it back in.

Here is a good read on doing it:

there are detailed teardown instructions on KTOG also, I don't remember details but the frankenbolt on the side is also the FP stop, so assembly of those parts can be tricky, I think.

I also wouldn't monkey with the FP return spring, except to replace it with a new one if you're in there. The FP riding too far forward can cause light strikes, too.
And I agree, call KT service, give them your troubleshooting info, and they'll likely just send you the parts or offer to overhaul your little friend for free. (hey, maybe you could scam a tour, if you're willing to drive to Cocoa, FL ... I've heard of it happening) KT has been known to update an older gun while it is in, also.

Is it even vaugely possible that your problems are ammo-based? I'm not saying that the P32 isn't capable of wearing out (far from it! that little thing is a bag of compromises, something has to wear out eventually in there) but if it is all recent, is it all with the same ammo?

Thank's for all of your responses. I did find an allen bit that fit perfectely and removed the fp and spring. I cleaned the channel and did not cut the fp spring. I turned the fp retaining screw snug and backed off 1/2 turn. It seems much smoother now and I'm thinking that it just needed a good cleaning to remove years of accumulated gunk. I don't think it's ammo related as all ammo was different. From alum. blazer to FN 82 contract. If that doesn't work I'll take RC's advice and get a new hammer spring.

I did the drive to Kel Tec when I first got it and they fixed it along with my p11 in very short order. Very good customer service.

Thank's for everyone's help.
