Hi Guys and Girls;

I thought I would post a range report on my Kel-Tec PF-9.
The range was 25 ft. indoors.
My first shots were with Blazer Brass 115 gn. FMJ and with a 6 O'clock bullseye hold they shot to the horizontal center of the target but were slightly left of center and I averaged 1-1/2" to 2" groups but the holes almost looked like they were torn somewhat like they may have been starting to tumble but when I pushed the paper back in place they looked normal.
Then I tried some Federal 147 gn. Law Enforcement loads and was amazed at how small the groups were, 3/8 ths" center to center and perfectly round. http://i366.photobucket.com/albums/oo106/flightsimmer_2009/Kel-TecPF-9.jpg I could completely cover them with a penny so I know what loads I'm going to be using. And I thought my Ruger LCP was accurate at 5/8 ths."
These groups were also dead on horizontally but were slighly left of center so I made a tiny witness mark with a sharp punch dead center of the top of the slide right in front of the rear sight and then loosened the rear sight screw and moved it to the right slightly and tightened it back down and now it shoots dead center with a bulleye hold.
I had no problems with the ammo but the recoil was very snappy, but I've found that I seldom remember the recoil when my mind is on something else and this is not a plinking type gun.
Follow up shots might be slighly slow compared to a much heavier gun but if I do my part I shouldn't need a follow up shot, besides, were talking mili-seconds here.
I find this PF-9 to be an excellent concealed carry gun for the money, it's small, it's light, and it has great white three dot sights and it's a 9 mm.
I added a Crimson Trace Laser sight (because my eyes are not what they used to be) and an extra magazine and bought a couple of the finger extensions for the magazines, I didn't feel that I needed them but I bought them anyway.
There were a few sharp edges on the plastic frame which I softened with my pocket knife and the trigger was starting to cause a blister on my finger from the hook at the tip of the trigger but I found a fix for it on the Kel-Tec Owners Group forum (KTOG) http://www.ktog.org/index.html and that took care of that.
I'm really pleased that I bought this PF-9 and would recommend it to you also.
I tried a Kahr PM-9 and it was very nice but it cost a lot more and the trigger hurt me more than the PF-9 and there is no fix for it that I'm aware of.

Have a great week everybody, Dan.

I to just bought a pf-9 and have 100 rounds threw it and like you find it to be a very good shooter but a bit of a small handfull but hay it is a small gun. I shot the aluminum blaser 115grain and all cycled with no problems. Point of aim was spot on . I did pull it apart and clean and oil ,also debured the frame and made a rear site ajustment before going to the range. I am also very pleased with the pistol. Fits my front pocket so well it is easy to forget its there. No problems with trigger as i also smoothed all edges on it with a old fingernail file. Don't even mind that l o n g trigger pull ,seems to do its job real well and has a light pull at that. Good gun.

As MkgReloader said... A Hogue Gripall Jr will help a lot, I also added a rear pad from KTAddOns under the GripAll.

Don't miss the rest of the Fluff & Buff points over at KTOG. Specifically talking about cleaning out the firing pin channel.

Keep an eye on using 147gr ammo. The gun isn't really designed for it and people have had some problems. 115 and 124 are just fine. :)

My first range time ( Fall 1999) with my P11 was an eye opener. It ran flawlessly but recoil was too much for me to handle. I have since gained much more experience with handguns and find it a fu gun to shoot - it's not a range gun but it is my BU car gun.

Great review, I have the opprotunity to buy either a P32 or the PF9, Both cost about the same ( $40 difference ), but I want to be able to front pocket carry with out having to wear something with huge pockets.

So my question is, would you feel comfortable carrying the PF9 in your pocket?

I carry mine in my right front pocket when I'm at home, as of right now it's in there. Use a pocket holster, it keeps the gun upright in the right position. Also, depending on your draws, and , or pockets, you may want to remove the grip extension. With it removed, it makes it more pocketable.
