was pretty happy with my cheap little kel-tec 32 until about 15 minutes ago...
inserted loaded magazine and cycled the slide to chamber a round...
the trigger did not set...not hammer action at all...
emptied chamber and pulled magazine and tried with without magazine and trigger sets fine...put magazine back in and try it and no go again! what's up?
Anyone else had this come up?

Please define what you mean by "trigger not set." Is it not in teh forward position? Is it not engaging the hammer? (NO RECCOMENDING YOU TEST THAT LOADED AND NOT AT THE RANGE)

Pictures would be helpfull too.

trigger set

what UI am trying to describe is that the thing does not cock...
it is same as if the thing had been fired..hammer down, trigger slack...
yet if I remove the magazine and work the slide it will re-cock itself
and be in a ready-to-fire mode. With magainze to rack and load it, the weapon remains uncocked...in a single action it might be similar to "hammer follow down" except here seems to be no chance of an AD...

My P11 does not cock the hammer when the slide is racked. It is double action only so the hammer is down all the time. But then I may be misunderstanding the problem with the 32 since I don't own one.. Maybe I should have spent my 2 cents somewhere else.

U are right - U cannot cock the P32 - the hammer stays down all the time unless U pull the trigger. It has no single action function.

If you do find problems with the Kel-Tec they are supposed to have very good customer service, you may want to contact them:

The hamer does not cock to the rear in a p32 or p3at, it is held mid point by the hammer block. When you pull the trigger to the rear, it will fully cock till the sear releases it to strike the pin, on recoil of the slide, the hammer is again stopped at the mid point.

problem is

my "follow down" example was a bad one and confused the issue...
the gun will not cock itself for firing when a loaded magazine is inserted and the round chambered by cycling the action...if you do this and pull the trigger nothing happens, the trigger is slack...it is same as if the gun had been fired and not re-cocked itself. I monkeyed with it and have got it to cock itself maybe 1/2 of the time...
I have inquiry in to kel-tec and if I learn of something I'll post it in case others run into this problem also...

Check to make sure your trigger pin hasn't come loose: LINK

Next thing would be to disassemble the pistol and check to make sure there isn't debris in the trigger bar channel causing it to engage only sporadically. LINK2

See how those things work and let me know how it goes for you. Disassembly is pretty easy, BTW, even if you aren't super handy.

They do have the lifetime warranty and yes they will fix it. The problem with that is that it will take about four weeks. Kel-Tecs are easy to tinker with and the company has a very relaxed policy in this regard. It is usually easier to follow some basic instructions and fix it yourself than to spend a months stewing over a pistol that isn't working right. To each his own, but before I took up tinkering with KTs I never would have taken down a pistol past a basic field strip - now I have hardly any use for the warranty as I can fix almost any problem myself and KT will send me the parts, if needed.

If you do decide to ship it, here is a way to save some money: SHIPPING

My best guess is that there is a burr on your hammer block. This burr catches on the plastic grip frame won't allow it to return to the up position. To check for this, take the slide off and work the hammer block up and down to see if there is any resistance, besides that of the spring. Fixing this problem will most likely involve returning the unit to Kel-Tec.

thanks

took thing out today and fired it...is a single shot. will fire, eject old case and feed new round..but trigger just does not re-cock..the weird thing is that it will if the magazine is out. I have it boxed and ready to go back to kel-tec for inspection and repair. I will advise what the problem was if I learn details in case others run into it. thanks for the advice and assistance...hope no one else has this problem...and does not learn of it at a bad time!

sometimes it's the little things

if any body is still looking at this post and line...here's the deal...
I got the thing apart and gave it a good cleaning...it seems a bit of fabric and a wad of lint from regular pocket (real pocket) carry had balled up
in the recoil spring guide....my guess is that simply this interference would not permit the slide to fully cock the hammer...although it was enough to permit ejection and stripping of next round from magazine...it was JUST right
in size and effect to cause this problem...peculiar, but seems fine now.
So, you other "pocket" packing people might take notice and inspect the weapon now and then.

Looks like I was close, but not quite in the "X" ring.:D

nailed it

I'd say you pretty much nailed it actually.
that little gap between slide and frame
appears to have been just enough for this junk
to accumulate in there...I'll keep a better
cleaning schedule on this thing in the future.
thanks.

Carry guns need to be cleaned Once a week at the minimum fired or not.
