A question to SU-16 owners: How is your rifle holding up?

I know that some people had voiced concerns about the durability of the SU-16, but now that the rifle has been out for several years what have owners found in regards to durability?

i dont have this, i have the plr, but I have fired several hundred rounds through it no probs. i would not try to hi crawl/low crawl with it, or smash a guys' head in, or bust open a locked door, but otherwise, it is doing fine.

I don't have one but I am considering getting an SU-16A. I want to use it for coyote hunting but I've heard not to expect much out of it in the accuracy department out past 100 yards. Is 100 yards the maximum accurate range for the Kel Tec SU-16A?

I have a SU-16CA.

Nothing at all wrong with it despite several hundred rounds through it.

Rugerman07, the SU-16s accuracy is about on par with a good AK. It's really hard to make a super accurate, light weight, gas piston operated rifle. Two to three inches at 100 yards is about what you will get out of one.

Yeah, thats' pretty much what I've been hearing. I may get one anyway just to play with, it ought to be a fun plinker.

I've had a SU-16A for years and have put several hundred round through it. I have had no malfunctions and it shoots very well out to 200m. It's accuracy is as good as or perhaps a bit better than a Ruger mini-14. It makes a great trunk gun.
My only complaint is that it doesn't have a chrome lined bore & chamber. This is perhaps a silly complaint, because I have put 400 rds through it without cleaning it and it showed no ill effects.
Get one and use it for a trunk gun/ "get me home safely" gun. That seems to be it's niche.

I'll have to let you know. Just picked one up from Bud's last week. Picked up a thirty, and a twenty AR magazine at the gun show yesterday.

I've had an "A" model for about 3 years and a "C" model for about 1 1/2. Both are still going strong, the "A" model really loves the Black Hills 52 gr. Moly HP reloads and will shoot a 1.25" 5 shot group on occassion, the "C" seems stuck at 1.5" with it's best load but I have not tried the moly coated in it. Both have been the ultimate in reliability, I have never had a FTF or FTE of any kind in a couple of thousand rounds.

I'm actually going to use the "C" in a 3 gun match in 2 weeks, it has a 2x Truglo red dot on it and will put the 55 gr. SP Black Hills reloads in the A zone every time at 100 yards. My "A" model has a 1.5-4.5 scope on it and I'd feel comfortable varminting with it out to 150 yards or so. I do have a bull barrelled AR that I normally use though, it's a sub-MOA gun with loads it likes.
