I am thinking about a Kel-Tec SU16A rifle. Does anyone have any experience with this rifle? What about quality, accuracy and function?

I was going to buy a 16A, but went with a 581 Series Mini. Anxious to hear if anyone has any experience with the 16A

I have a SU16A. It has proven to be accurate and reliable with alum mags.
Quality is what you might expect from a rifle priced like the Kel Tec.
The plastic put me off at first but it has proven(1.5K rnds) to be a fun gun. It sports new forearm and sights. What is the intended use?

I started out years ago when the SU first came out and it was an A and after putting many rounds thru many years I sold it and went with the Charley or C model. I started to keep the A model also but funding was low at the moment so off it went to a cousin of mine who thinks its more fun to shoot than his AR. Not because the AR lacks but because the SU is a piston operating system and doesnt have to be cleaned as often. My C model hasn't failed me yet and accuracy is on par with the old A model I had.

I was going to hunt and plink with it. What got me goimg with Kel-Tec was the pmr-30 which I have had on order for months. Plus an old gun guy in the mountains like Kel-Tec which surprised me.

I have an A and a C model, as well as a Mini 14 and several AR's.

The A is a decent rifle, although personally I prefer the C model since I like the sights better. My C is slightly more accrurate than the A, probably due to the stiffer barrel, but with 52 gr. Black Hills HP ammo the A model will still shoot 1.25-1.5" groups at 100 yards, it seems a little more finicky than the C regarding bullet weight.

Niether of my SU's have more than a couple of thousand rounds through them so I really can't say about how they will hold up longer term, but so far so good, no problems at all with either one of them.

I have the Charlie model, and like it quite a bit. Here are a couple of videos I made about mine.

In the Range Report video, I didn't have the optics situation worked out quite as well. In the Getting it Equipped video, accuracy was a bit better.

The rifles are fun to shoot, accurate, very effective, and as nearly as I can tell as reliable as can be.
