kel tec sub 2000 barrel not threaded

From what I understand kel tec does not thread the barrel for the sub 2000. Does anyone know why? Is this for economic reasons?

Probably.

Only 1 in 10,000 customers would put a can on one anyway so why bother and run the price up.

Besides that, they would have to move the front sight further back on the barrel to make room for threads.
And then it wouldn't fold double any more.

It would fold double, it just wouldn't lock closed.

A threaded barrel is often a "naughty" feature in states with an AWB, although I don't know if it matters as much if it already has a pistol grip and hi-cap mag.
