Kel Tec - What are the odds?

That's unfortunate. I've had excellent results with our KTs and they've also had hundreds of rounds through each.

My biggest gripe with my P-32 is it allows me to short stroke the trigger thereby giving a light primer strike. A thorough cleaning of the firing pin channel and a conscious letting off of the trigger all the way will solve the problem but its easy to do when you've spent a lot of time with the Glock trigger reset or youre under stress. If any of the aftermarket barrel manufacturers ever offer a 32acp conversion for the G42 I'd be all over that.

While the Ruger LCP was seemingly an improvement over the P3AT it seemed to be derived from, the Ruger wasn't exactly problem-free:

(Ruger had problems, and they had a fairly well-developed gun as a starting point...)

That's why I waited a while for the teething pains to be identified and resolved before I thought about buying one. ;)

Kind of like how the first 2 guys who bought LC9's both had repeated light-strikes issues with an assortment of factory loads.

I tried the first one, myself, and experienced light-strikes with 4 different types of factory ammo. When it was returned from Ruger it continued to exhibit light-strikes, so the owner got rid of it. (According to the repair worksheet, they also replaced the mag catch when the gun was sent back for the light-strike problem.)

The next guy brought his new LC9 to the range for qual and experienced repeated light-strikes, so he couldn't get qualified with the gun. I suggested he return the gun to Ruger for repair/correction, but I haven't seen him to find out what happened. I imagine Ruger identified whatever was happening with that model ... like S&W recognized they had a couple problems with their Bodyguard .380 and worked to iron out the bugs.

These sort of things can happen with new models.

You most likely haven't shot it enough. The average lifespan going by experiences over at the Hi Point forum is about 2.5-5k rounds.

Hi points are good for the money but definitely still have a higher rate of issues than Ruger and S&W.

Please pause for a public service announcement.
The OP said:
my wife's P32 would jam after each shot to the point where a T-R-B would not have fixed it.
Might I suggest T-R-A or Tap-Rack-Assess rather than T-R-B (Tap-Rack-Bang). Keep in mind that if the bad person changes their mind and stops the attack between Tap-Rack and Bang you could be charged with a crime. Well, assuming it actually went Bang. Sorry, don't want to see any newbies develop training scars.
This thread will now resume.
