KelTec PMR-30

I've held one, shot a few rounds, but no real serious work with them.

I find them kinda neat - 30 rounds at a time is really cool.

personal observations: no science here

small gun. very slim. good balance. could use a bit more bulk for my hands

like the FO sights. lines up well in my grip.

decent accuracy. However, certainly not a bullseye gun (at least not in my hands)

22mag certainly knocks a bowling pin and softballs around

recoil easily handled. kicks less than I thought it would for the weight of the gun. I would have to say good ergonomics are the root of that.

lots o flash from that short muzzle. not as noisy as my 357, but about as bright.

fired 20 rounds. no jams with maxi mags.

overall impression - wanted one terribly till I shot one. still want one, but not nearly as much. I'll wait for a great deal. It'll be a range toy, not a serious work gun. Still contemplating a for PD use. certainly an easily concealable one, and 30 22mags on tap might do some real damage.

I've had one for about a year. It's my EDC around my property. Works for feral cats and ground squirrels. Light on the hip, nice to have 30 rounds without a carrying a reload. Mine is accurate enough and has been very reliable after the first couple of magazines (which may have been because I loaded the mags without reading the instructions first.) I have several KelTecs and like them all.

I am glad someone can find one. I have six distributors that I do business with and I had a pmr on my wishlist for a year. I have seen one and it was at a gunshow. Sold for $475.

Another happy owner here, too.
Light, hi-cap mags, real neat muzzle flash and fun!
Worth the wait to get one.

Lateck,

I was on a waiting list for over 18 months. The results are worth the wait. The PMR 30 fills a niche in my handgun inventory.

The trigger is very nice on my PMR, it's actually lighter than my FsN. My pistol is pretty accurate too...which really surprised me about KT.

I was given one as a gift two years ago & it has been a great gun. Hunting, plinking, though a bit expensive and target shooting. I have never had a misfire in several thousand rounds. I highly recommend this gun.

Great little guns, had mine for a while now, I ordered one as soon as they were announced at shot show a couple of years ago.

Good luck finding one at a good price, most are bringing a premium right now.

I wanted one but never seen one in my area, hopefully in the near future I plan on getting one. Love the muzzle flash

What's the action of the PMR based on? I wouldn't think a simple blowback would handle a 22WMR, so I assume there is some lockup at work?

TCB

Its a hybrid blowback and locked breech...blowback for more anemic or lower pressure rounds and automatically locks breech upon firing a hotter round

As Pikid89 said, they call it a hybrid. But actually, there is no mechanical locking action at all. The barrel is floated, and can travel up to ~3/16". It is the pressure-generated friction of the case against chamber wall that determines whether any or all of the barrel's travel is used. So, while it's not actually a locked breech design, it behaves as a short recoil system if there is still significant chamber pressure when the slide starts moving.
