Good bud of mine got one of these critters. Semi auto w/a folding stock in 9MM.
Says he can use his Beretta pistol mags.

Any feedback from any of you? Anybody got one?

He's got a sling off his shoulder and wears it under a jacket. He's doing some plain clothes security and it seems it qualifies as a rifle, even folded as long as he added a 2" extender to the stock. Doesn't need CCW to carry.

I haven't seen it yet, and I'm very curious to see it and shoot it.

Get one!

I have one (the .40 version). This thing is a joy to shot and is surprisingly accurate at 100yds! I've put about 1000 rds through mine (Wolf) with absoultely no problems. Mine takes Glock 22 mags to boot, which is nice especially if you own a G22! The front sight looks cheesy but it really does its job well. Trigger is heavy but hell, so was the trigger on my AR180B. The gun literally folds in half and is so easy to carry. Lightweight, fun, accurate, inexpensive (not cheap), powerful and extremely mobile. If you're looking for something other than the typical range plinker, this is your rifle. Looks better than its competitor (Hi-Point Carbine) too.

Also, I this point I'd have no problem using if for HD. But I'm not a "HSLD" guy like most people on the internet, so perhaps someone will point out why that's a bad idea.

Cheers,

Nobby

Dick - Jody Hudson has one - I saw it at a PA shoot March this year - or was it the Sept 2004 shoot - no matter.

Seems quite a remarkable tool - tho didn't get to actually shoot it. He hasn't posted here a whole lot of late but if he sees this can give you the skinny from his POV.

I didn't think it was legal to conceal a long gun in Mi. I specifically asked at my CCW class if long guns were good to go, and they said no. I was going to get one, but without the pad so it would be a pistol in Mi. That way I could keep it loaded in my cars, and maybe even under a jacket, if I have to go to the "D".

Thanks for the tips guys. I was wondering about the CCW issue myself and was going to inquire about it. I've got CCW, but my bud doesn't. I keep telling him to jump throught the hoops. Not hard to do. We're Shall Issue in Michigan now.

I'm off work for a couple weeks and looking for a chance to fondle this critter and shoot it a bit.

I've got the 9mm version that takes Glock mags. It's sitting a few feet from me right now in that "awaiting repair" state.

I attempted to adjust the front sight and I broke that flimsy plastic front blade while at the range. I finally broke down and ordered up a replacement front sight from the guys at Blue Force Gear along with a tritium front sight post for the thing. Need to grab a few bits for my Dremel before I get to work on that project.

I got to run about 300-400 rounds through the thing before the front sight broke -- which is really my fault that it broke. It's certainly a hoot to shoot! I ran into some problems shooting 124 grain Speer Gold Dots out of it, but that was a lot of out-of-spec not-for-LEO use stuff. Never had an issue with any brass cased ammo. I'll do some more experiments with various HP ammo once I bring it back online.

Adding that buttstock extension really helps, too. Out of the box it feels like it was made to be ergonomically correct for a 10 year old boy. I'm not a big guy (5' 9") but it was a bit small for me. Workable, but too small. That little 1" extension is great, and it still has the same OAL when folded up.

I bought it as a plinker, but after getting to rock-n-roll with an MP5 I realized it was actually a pretty serious tool, especially when outfitted with 30 round Glock magazines. Now, I might be overly paranoid, but I don't like to travel without a long gun of some type, and this fits the bill pretty good. You can check into a hotel w/out anybody seeing anything that screams "HE'S GOT A GUN WITH HIM!" and I really like that. Fits into a laptop case nicely, BTW.

If I came across a good deal I might snag one in the .40S&W version. I really like it.

EDIT:

It was also really funny watching the local PD upon brining it in for "safety inspection." Apparently I was the first one to bring one through the Kent County's Sherrif's department. Rather than ask me how it worked they fiddled with it, in my view, until they figured it out. Waste of time, but quite amusing.

That would be Kel-Tec Su(b) 2000

I love mine. Perfect complement to my little Glock.

The only person I know who's actually fired one and didn't like it is left handed. Apparently there's no way to fire it as a lefty without it spitting brass in your face.

I want one of the Beretta mag versions myself. Then I'll get it an XD-9 as a companion to share magazines.

I've got one, Gramps. I didn't really think I would like it as much as I do.

Awesome little gun. Currently hiding under my folded down center console in my truck.

Low tech but functional

It actually is more ergonomic (for me) than the picatinny mounts. 500+ rounds through it and it is still in the same place ;)

Dionysusigma,

As I understand it the mag is identical except there's an extra notch cut in the body of the mag. Take a 92 mag, cut that notch. It will still function perfectly as a Beretta mag but will now also function in an XD.

I'd be really careful about concealing a firearm w/out a license, without explicit wording in the law, declaring it legal.

I am just starting to look at this rifle. When you mention the various semi clip/mags, does that mean if I order one, I need to let them know which mag I want to use or does the rifle allow for any of those mags?

I had one... great little carbines. Mine was a Glock 9mm version. Reliable, reasonably accurate, compact, and fun to shoot. I would have liked to keep mine, but when I found out what people are paying for them these days, I put it on the market. Sold it for almost 2 x what I paid.

does that mean if I order one, I need to let them know which mag I want to use

Yes. They are specific to different mags, and not interchangeable... Glock, SW, SIG, Beretta... 9mm or 40

However, it's been tricky "ordering" them lately considering Kel Tec has not shipped new units in over a year. Maybe that has changed...???

I found 3 before Christmas, all for under $260. NIB. I haven't run as much ammo through as some but they have so far all proven reliable and accurate. I bought simple soft sided cases for them that look just like laptop bags and they hold extra mags. As said before, check your laws about carry. The cases should be fine so long as your juristiction allows loaded mags. For travel on the road and in motels/hotels they are great.

It is not the brass but the mag release that causes problems.

For a lefty (me) the problem isn't the cases or the mag release, but rather some hot gases and particles out the ejection port hitting your cheek. Annoying at times, but not too bad.

However, switching from Wolf to Sellier & Bellot cut it in half. Wolf is some dirty ammo, fouls up the blow back tube also much worse than the S & B.

I wouldn't sell mine if I couldn't replace it.
