I will be in Louisville Kentucky next week and I have a few questions for those who may know.

From the Kentucky state police web site I found the no carry places:

One of the places is: Any portion of an establishment licensed to dispense beer or alcoholic beverages for consumption on the premises, which portion of the establishment is primarily devoted to that purpose.

This is what I have a question about.

So if I go to an applebee's type resturant. I can carry but not in the bar area or drink. Am I understanding that correctly?

Does anyone know about downtown Louisville and 4th street live? I have been to the TGI Fridays but I am not sure if the 4th street live venue prohibits it or not.

Thanks,
James

I live in Ohio, but go into KY every now and then. If it's a place like Applebees, I wouldn't sit at the bar, but you should be ok sitting at a table. You also can't bring your pistol into a place that most of their business is devoted to alcohol. So you can't sit at a table in a bar, but a table at a restaurant that serves alcohol you should be good to go.

At least that's how I see it. Usually when you ask cops, they don't even give you a definitive yes. Most of the ones I talk to just say, "Well, I'm not 100% sure on how to take that, I'd just not carry it to be on the safe side".

As Wopasaurus stated, I think it would be fine as long as you were not sitting at the bar. Of course, they might just have a "no weapons" sign posted. Louisville is not as pro-gun as the rest of the state is.

Thanks for the answers about the resturant question. If I carry I will sit away from the bar area. If it is posted then I will find other dinner plans.

The last time the pan handlers gave me the willies and I hate walking downtown alone and unarmed.

Ive sat at both. I honestly dont think its a big deal if im (and my party) are eating food and sitting at the tables surrounding the bar (ie not drinking and setting at the bar).
