Meet the Press has Kerry on, replayed 1971 interview where Kerry admits he commited war crimes, he still stands by his comments and says he was "angry" in '71. Hillary must be eating this up:evil: Kerry's CO doubts some of Kerry's "claims" and service record. 35 minutes so far and Kerry is being exposed for what he is, a liar and an expert in double talk. If he had any character, I'd feel sorry for him.:barf:

SLICK WILLIE and his flip-flopping and telling us what the polls say we wanted to hear has got NOTHING on JK!!!! He learns WELL!

Slicker than a barrel of oiled eels.

Oh dear God please post a link. I have some ppl on another forum whose heads are going to explode when they read this about their "dear leader". Can't wait to see the squirming!

KERRY: There are all kinds of atrocities. And I would have to say that, yes, yes, I committed the same kind of atrocities as thousands of other soldiers have committed, in that I took part in shootings in free fire zones; I conducted harassment and interdiction fire; I used 50-caliber machine guns which we were granted and ordered to use, which were our only weapon against people; I took place in search and destroy missions, in the burning of villages.

All of this is contrary to the laws of warfare. All of this is contrary to the Geneva Conventions. And all of this is ordered as a matter of written established policy by the government of the United States from the top down.

And I believe that the men who designed these, the men who designed the free fire zone, the men who ordered us, the men who signed off the air raid strike areas, I think these men, by the letter of the law, the same letter of the law that tried Lieutenant Calley, are war criminals.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

RUSSERT: Thirty years later, do you stand by that?

KERRY: I don't stand by the genocide. I think those were the words of an angry young man. We did not try to do that. But I do stand by the description--I don't even believe there was a purpose served in the word "war criminal.'' I really don't.

the men...the men...the men...the men...are war criminals, but not me John "50 cal" Kerry.

"no purpose served" translates to (it doesn't serve HIS purpose now):scrutiny:

"I vas just following orders." :(

Mr. Kerry, you made my day.

I was watching this unfold this morning, and the one question that Russert didn't ask (if I missed it, someone please correct me) is if then Lt. Kerry saw these atrocities being committed, shouldn't he be held to some degree of accountability (as a Naval officer) for not stopping them, or reporting those men involved?

Regardless, he was certainly pretty uneasy having to see that footage of himself, and also having to answer the question. The one trait that Kerry has learned well from that other Massachusetts Limousine Liberal, Chappaquiddick Ted, is to condescendingly berate anyone who should dare to question his previous statement. How dare you ask me that! This was one time when that wasn't going to work, and Kerry knew it. :barf:

Let's add in the bo-toxed Boston Brahmens private negotiations with the Viet Cong in Paris during the war!

He now goes around saying how "proud" he is of his service in Viet Nam. Well, if he's so darn proud, why won't he release his service records?

Great question, and after Russert mentioned that Kerry's Commanding Officer had publicly questioned Kerry's six month stay in Viet Nam, Russert then said that Bush wasn't opposed to releasing all his records, so (Russert asked) would Kerry also release his own? He answered that he would. This will bear some watching.

How do we contact the World Court? as Americans, it is our duty to go after War Criminals, no matter how long ago the atrocity was committed.

I dunno, President Bush took a lot of heat last week for "bumbling" and not seeming prepared for some of his questions. (Which I agree with to a point).

But Kerry this morning, while being a little better speaker than Bush, seemed kinda surprised and testy at many of the questions.

For both of them, aren't they prepped to the hilt? How can they seem surprised at some of these question?

In any case, this was good as I hope many got their first look at Kerry today; he definately seemed "Weeblish".

Bush last week certainly didn't gain many new supporters but I doubt he lost any either.

I read somewhere last week that 86% of those who plan to vote for Bush are definate, and 79% of those for Kerry say similar. That's a lot of committed voters for April; though I bet a lot of that 79% for Kerry are actually against Bush and not for Kerry - though it probably doesn't matter.

Me too. He had some moments when he was really strong, some others not so much.

I think in Kerry's case, he (like many Democrats) is so used to a non-stop slew of softball questions from the media, that when he's actually confronted with a tough one it really does knock him off stride. Kind of hard to rebut a previously recorded TV interview, isn't it?

Let's face it-the majority of Dems voting for Kerry would much rather have someone else to vote for (a certain broom riding NY Senator comes to mind... ), but for now, it's all about Kerry. This guy is a decorated veteran, a leftist limousine liberal, and an empty suit, all rolled into one. He excites no one, but in this election, he's their guy.

He said they were available at "headquarters." Whatever that means.

While ducking questions about his wife's tax returns he also said something about statements of their assets being available at some Senate "headquarters" or something like that. (Not tax returns but "assets").

Does he really expect people to fall for this stuff?

Also priceless was when he answered a question about creating 10 million jobs that he might not be able to do it (and this is a direct quote, it made me sit up straight) - "IF" theres a war or something.

Nice way to change the minds of those large majority who support President Bush on the overall WOT, Senator.
