Well, I can't sleep, so I figure this as good a time as any to do a little review. My Kershaw Sapphire arrived in the mail today.
It is a discontinued knife, Ken Onion design.
I got it for $40 from SJ Discount Tools (well, $30 plus shipping)
http://www.sjdiscounttools.com/ker-1450.html
It has a 3'' blade, 4'' handle, and ways 2.3oz, at least according to the specs.
I already knew that this knife fit my hand well- my brother has one.
Always nice to know that you will like a knife before you order it. Blind ordering can be risky.
This knife is nice and light. It rides well in a pocket, and fits my hand like a glove.
It is a linerlock, but a strong one, about a quater of the thickness of the blade. It also has a small, well, can't describe it any other way, metal hump extending from the linerlock, that is designed so the knife won't close on your hands.
The titanium handle, besides being light and strong, is really pretty. It is mainly blue, but with some purply shades mixed in, give it a cool "rainbow" look.
Blade came very sharp out of box, even sharper after five hones on each side with a butchers steel.
The lock was solid, with no blade pay.
This knife is going to be part of my "streamlined" EDC.
Smaller wallet, in back pocket, with a Picopad and Swisstool, cellphone in left, and this knife (or another, I have several choices) clipped, Case Medium Stockman or an SAK down in the pocket.
A $40 well spent.

Blind ordering can be risky.

Blind ordering can be awesome. Let me tell you about my rocky relationship with Samuel Adams, or Drew Estate..

Thanks for the review cz! Stinks that this knife is d/c'd, but maybe they'll fill the empty slot with something cooler
