My Kimber TLE 1911 has an annoying feed malfunction. Yes it comes standard with a polished feed ramp (so that is not the problem). It has a problem with ball ammo, but less with SWC ammo. I'm thinking it may have a problem with the bushing I put in - since that shortens the ejection cycle - which is (seemingly) part of the problem. Does anyone have a good referral to a good smith in Utah?

If you just changed the bushing why can't you change it back? If that's the problem that's an easy fix. Mark

troubleshooting 101 is that if you make a change and operation is now different or failing change it back and report the results.

well - Railroader - the quick (and unfortunately embarrassing) answer to your question is that I just remembered yesterday (as I was writing my post) that I had a buffer in there. So you are absolutely right - the answer to this is - pull the damn buffer out then take it out back and fire the problem FMJ ammo and see if this fixes it. I had previously switched from Chip McCormick mags to Wilson Combat mags and that helped somewhat. OK now I gotta go out to the shop and make the change...oooohhh can't wait...

Is the gun not going into battery all the way? Might be a recoil spring, buffers compress them more and sometimes wear them out faster. Also if you shoot a lot of lead, the chamber can get caked with lead and wax, that with the recoil spring will get the slide to stop just short of going into battery. I polished my chamber just a tad with a dremel and some flitz, it helped the leading and wax build up in the chamber.
