I purchased a kimber 22 converion kit for my 70 series 1911. I was about to go to the range, so I installed the slide on my frame a stuck the magazine in. It would not seat in unless I locked the slide back. But now the slide does not drop, it seems like the magazine is seated so high it blocks or rubs against the slide. I purchased 2 extra magazines and had the same problem. I had a old mag from their earlier version made by ciener and the mag seated fine and the slide retracted smoothly with no binding. has anyone had this issue? I called kimber and they never hears of the problem.

I've been using the Kimber .22 conversion kit on my SW1911 for over a year now, with four mags, and have never had that problem. Wish I could help more, but at least can provide that fact.

Just for comparison, try the slide and mags on another 1911 and see it there is the same problem.

All I can tell you is I have a 1916 Springfield Armory 1911 and a 1994 Springfield Armory Inc. 1911A1, and they both work perfectly with my non-Ciener $279 at MidwayUSA Kimber 22LR upper and magazines. One of the best buys I've ever made, my now 10 year old has been shooting it for >4 years.

Sorry to say that a buddy of mine has a mid-80's NM Colt 1911 with an offset trigger, their quality control went down the tubes for awhile there.

Midway USA is sending me replacement magazines. I hope this works.
